A friend and my family are flying to Rome this Fall...the friend on LH, my family on AA, with scheduled arrivals about an hour apart. Is there a good place to meet at FCO?

If you are taking the train (Leonardo) into Rome, you can meet there. The train leaves from one track.

This is a great resource! About halfway down the looong page he shows photos of the burnt-orange "Meeting Place" column in the lowest level of Terminal 3. That's probably where we will go.

RinR is a frequent contributor on this forum, and his site really is a super resource. There's a lot more in there, be worth your while to check it out for your Rome trip. IMO. :)

I'd actually arrange to meet at the cafe’ instead. The Meeting Place column will have tons of people around it, and you may be waiting a while. Whereas if you arrange to meet at the cafe’ you can hopefully (eventually) snag a table and the wait will be much more comfortable - and you'll be somewhat removed from the throngs of people and beckoning drivers.

In his section "Terminal 3 Arrivals Area" there's a pix of the cafe’ shown last. (It's always my very first destination after exiting baggage - to get my first good cup of real coffee and start off my Roman vacation properly!).

You could show your family/friend RinR's site too so you'll all now exactly where to go.

Well, that's my 2 cents at least.
