If you are Gold or Diamond, and staying at a US Property, you are entitled to a free breakfast regardless of whether it is an award or revenue stay. International, its not as clear.

If you are not at least Gold, you aren't entitled to a free breakfast for an award stay.

You are guaranteed a continental breakfest. BIG difference (althou most Hiltons make this less obvious, thank you).

You can usually cough up a couple of dollars to get the hot buffet. Maybe not totally free, but still not bad.

By the way, the continental breakfasts at Hiltons that you get when gold are not "coffee, juice and a muffin" breakfasts. In both Sydney and Cairns the breakfasts included a wide variety of fruits, breads, luncheon meats, cheeses, etc.

Actually, that depends on the property. Some US Hiltons define continental breakfast pretty much as "coffee, juice and a muffin", but for a couple dollars extra you can get a full breakfast, which is absolutely worth it. Also, some hotels differentiate between Gold and Diamond members by offering full breakfast coupons to Diamonds and continental breakfast for Golds.
