This is a thread dedicated to the IC "The Venetian" in Las Vegas. It was created by moving post out of the pre-opening thread. We have decided to create one thread for The Palazzo and one for the The Venetian.
There might be some post in this thread regarding both or the other property. I have not deleted this posts ouf of this thread for a better comparison.

I can confirm the RA guaranteed room availability benefit is honored at the Venetian and Palazzo.
After getting passed back and forth between call centers a few times last week, I learned the lowest "guaranteed availability" rate is $950 per night. The quote was for a luxury suite Sunday through Tuesday next week, and there's a big convention going on, but that rate is "prohibative" for just about anyone.

You cannot book with a BOGO or sweet Dilemma coupon. Only 40,000 points work for a free night. At this stage, they are not accepting anything else.

Luxury to Luxury View isn't a two-level upgrade. Luxury has a king bed. Bella has two queen beds. They both have the same square footage. So an "upgrade" from Luxury to Bella is at best a sidewides move. For me it's a downgrade: from king to queen bed.

In the 'realm' of "V/P" a Bella Suite is considered more expensive (an upgrade) from a Luxury (1 King) Suite. In most cases, it is also more expensive to book a Bella (2 Queen) suite. I agree, for most hotels, these would be considered equivalent suites with different beds; but at V/P that has never been the case.
So, in a sense, it is ONLY an upgrade since it is a more expensive suite; and in higher demand (i.e. the Bella is in higher demand than the Luxury). As an aside, I always book my comp rooms as Bella (you get a choice of Luxury King or Bella 2 Queen for comp rooms); since I've had experience that these are in demand more, and I've gotten upgrades to superior suites just because they needed more Bella (2 Queen) inventory.

So is a bump from a Bella to a Luxury View also an upgrade since the Luxury View is more expensive?
Looking at a random date in June the rooms stack like this Luxury (219) -> Bella (249) -> Luxury View (259) -> Bella View (289) -> Prestige Luxury (319) -> Fortuna View (339) -> Prestige Bella (349) -> Prestige Fortuna (439) -> Prestige Siena (619).

Are you talking about the small room with one entrance from the hotel lobby and another one off the high limit slots?
I've never seen any alcohol there, only sodas, coffee or tea, and the food selection is usually finger sandwiches, fruit or cookies...
The room upgrade is unsurprisingly same as for Grazie gold
Wow. I cant believe you never asked. There is a full, free 24 hour drinks service
in the lounge. Obviously being Vegas you have to look after your waiter. This definitely includes champagne (Moet) and a full bar. I was allowed 2 guests. Certainly not a bad way to start and end a big night out in Vegas.

Well you weren't implying you thought that. I think with or without a waiter it is a very fair deal. As I mentioned no problem with a few extra guests. I would imagine a group of 3 could drink their way through $3-400 worth of booze in no time. At least they are not one of these IC lounges who serve cava or some other mediocre sparkling wine.

I'm having the same experience in phone calls prior to my stay. I reserved a Prestige Luxury Suite Online and at first told they will only upgrade that day of arrival as they have a 2nd in house reward system that gets priority first. Then after more discussion and supervisor they said it was a guaranteed upgrade. They then upgraded me to a view... that's it. They did notice I had two children and asked if I wanted a Bella Suite but I want a little more personal space by having our kids on the pull out sofa. Plus if I did have a Bella I thought it lowered the chances of being further upgraded to Fortune or Sienna as those only look like they have one king sized bed. So if I was in a Queen with 2 kids that might think a room with a king wouldn't work for me.
A question on the VIP lounge vs Prestige Lounge. Anyone know the differences? I reserved the Prestige room directly on their hotel web site as I have two kids and the nicer breakfast, dinner munchies, etc are very meaningful to me. Then I called and had the front desk add my RA#.
Be careful, I was told that there are two separate reservation systems and that if you book direct no RA perks apply- only if you book direct with IC
TravelGuy1965
Apr 9, 11, 2:12 pm
Thanks for the heads up on this. The prestige concierge sent me an email asking if they could help with anything for my stay and I'm going to ask them to check if my RA# is on the reservation and to verify RA benefits will apply on this stay. If they reply - yes to both - in email then I'm going to take the risk with it.
If they can't confirm they do, then I owe you a big thankyou and will rebook from the PC web site. Has anyone tried reserving on the IC web site for a prestige room? I didn't see it as an option? Or alternately, has anyone reserved a non-presetige room on IC.com then called and asked to pay extra for a prestige room (Eg; lounge access)?

Just from seeing the different room offers when I browse dates I would think an upgrade from a Prestige Luxury would be Prestige Fortuna, if you wanted to stick to a King bed.

Maybe this is a way around getting too much traffic with the IC affiliation competing with their internal awards/stay program?

1) the Palazzo should be giving the Ambassador benefits - as it is new to the group we are collecting the experiences of people that have just been or are there.
2) not aware of status match for Ambassador - you buy Ambassador either with Priority Club points or $s
re rates - don't believe there are any preferential rates for being Ambassador but with the upgrade you in theory are paying a lower rate for what you get

There is no Diamond. That is Hilton not Intercontinental I believe.
The ICH Group has 2 programs - Priority Club which will earn and redeem points at all ICH brands and comes in blue, silver, gold and platinum and anyone can sign up and earn. Perks vary by brand but Intercontinental hotels tend not to give much notice of PC status
Then there is Ambassador which also earns and redeems at all ICH brands but is recognised by Intercontinental Hotels for upgrade/late checkout etc. There are 2 versions. Ambassador and Royal Ambassador. Ambassador you buy and Royal Ambassador is by invite for those that spend a lot of nights in IC hotels or are referred by another RA.
If you buy Ambassador you automatically become Priority Club gold as part of it.
You may get a status match to Priority Club but it will not be recognised at IC hotels for benefits

Yeah but the whole point of V/P affiliating with IHG is to get that traffic. V/P treating Priority Club members, Ambassadors, and Royal Ambassadors as second-class guests defeats the whole purpose.
You can go to Orbitz, or any travel site, or even the Palazzo site itself and book a Prestige or Fortuna suite. The Luxury and Bella suites there are priced the same as on the IC Ambassador site so what's the point of not showing Prestige suites?
MattGreenfield
Apr 10, 11, 5:29 pm
And it's not like the Prestige suites are not being listed because they are going to be the upgrade everyone gets. Post #173 states the upgrade for a RA was from a Luxury to Luxury View.

There is no Silver elite level in IHG Priority Club Rewards.
Only Gold Elite and Platinum Elite (http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/pc/1/en/c/2/content/dec/pc/0/en/benefits.html). The basic, non-elite level is called "Club Level".

I think ICH would status matchme to Platinum, but would I get any perks at the hotel? And how long does the status match last?
The main aim would be room upgrade and LATE CHECK-OUT - are these guaranteed with Platinum? Or does Ambassador guarantee late check-out?

Since V/P is an Intercontinental Alliance Resort for room upgrade and late check-out you need Ambassador status.

You can see the various room types at the hotels on their respective web sites.
http://www.palazzo.com/accommodations.aspx
http://www.venetian.com/Las-Vegas-Accommodations/
From what we see you can't book many room types on IC.com.
While YMMV you might be able to book what you want on the hotel web sites and ask them to add your RA#. For example if you want access to the prestige lounge its not offered on IC.com so the only way looks to be to do it though the hotel web sites. Maybe you could reserve on IC.com and then call the hotel and pay for prestige lounge access. From initial dialogs the lounge access is not granted as part of RA upgrades.

Comparison Venetian-Palazzo:
So, well now I stayed one night at Palazzo and one night at The Venetian. So far, I really preferred the modern Palazzo. Even though – after asking politely – I got upgraded from Bella Suite without view to Rialto with view, the views at Venetian are not as nice as from Palazzo, especially due to a building site in front of the Venetians “Strip view”.
Palazzo had much nicer view and - as said before - I really liked the feeling in the "smallest" luxury suites.
Minibar is great as well in both hotels! Check-In process at Venetian took us around 30 Minutes in the Vip-lounge area…so we missed our included lunch (FHR-Rate)…Venetian was not able to organize a substitute… Nice fruit bowl and water were delivered promptly in both properties.
At The Venetian – even though there was a great sign in front saying “Royal Ambassador” – the front desk personnel didn’t really know about the benefits. Free minibar had to be escalated and was granted via phone another 30 minutes after check-in.
Big advantage for Venetian: if you want to accommodate 4 people in one suite, then this can only be done in one of the rialto suites (2 queen beds + sofa bed + rollaway bed).

Why "hope not"? If direct bookings on casino rates qualify then you'll have more upgrade competition from casino invites than from PL.
And why wouldn't one be able to show AMB card at checkin to claim bennies and add PC number?

"One" might be able, the poster I replied to obviously not because this poster does not hold an Ambassador card. I do never care about upgrade competition, in particular when the upgrade is guaranteed as it is in the Ambassador program. I do however care about people sneaking in through the back door. Ambassador status can easily be bought, no reason to tolerate the back door detour.
It is - this as a side remark - not clear to me whether Casino rates do qualify. Rates booked on the HOTELS' website do qualify - this appears to be a difference.

I agree in general but here the story is different as they have two separate reservations systems i don't how see ineligible stays will be differentiated - they are processed by in house system not PC one.
IME both at PH and Hilton I was able to get stay credits on supposedly ineligible rates booked directly with the property.
With a variety casino promo rates bookable on their own website i simply can't imagine trying to separate eligible from ineligible for PC purpose.

No, I didn't have to pay the resort fee for my recent trip.
Oddly I phoned down to the desk on my second day there to ask what the payment was for internet use. They said not to worry as it was included in my resort fee which, they said on the phone at that time, I was going to have to pay on check-out. But on check-out I only had some charges from the Canyon Ranch Spa and some restaurant food, no resort fee.
They had also charged me for a movie I saw in the room, but they politely removed the charge when asked.
I will be certain once I get my credit card bill, as IC's have tacked on charges after the fact (like mini-bar charges) which they've usually been good about removing.

Curious what points have posted for anyone who has stayed since 1 April - seems like they should post like an IC stay (so 4000 points for an RA plus any bonuses), but do the nights also show up as qualifying towards the Ambassador Accellerator 20k per 15 nights?
Also noticed that having a booking at the Palazzo has broken mobile.priorityclub.com - as soon as the stay had been booked, I got an error when trying to view forthcoming reservations. I just booked 2 suites by calling them directly in order to check on the upgrades etc for Ambassadors. My entire reservation on an international call from Dubai to US took around 40 minutes! Primarily because the lady on the other end wasn't too sure of the benefits and had to keep me on hold until she checked with her supervisors. Eventually it ended up well enough and my two suites ( booked under myself and my wife an both of us are Ambassadors)were upgraded to the view suites. Interestingly I asked for connecting suites and she arranged that as well but there was a 10 dollar charge to open the connecting door!!!! I have NEVER ever heard of this in my life. I,ve booked suites on the Prestige floor and am looking forward to seeing if it would be worth the difference.

I also tried to use my ambassador status at the Venetian and it was not recognized. I do think that if they market the fact that they are a partner of IHG they should honor IHG status. With that said, it is a great resort and I had no complaints otherwise.

Did you use Invited Guest check-in?
I tried to use invited guest checkin, but there was one person working who ignored me while dealing with a group of 6 guys who had many problems. With no line at the regular desk I went over which was likely my mistake.
I emailed both the hotel and Ambassador last night. Nothing yet from ambassador, but the Venetian guest services did call my room when I was out and left an apologetic message, but no offer to try to make up for it.
Canned response from ambassador. No real expression of concern. Just they've recorded my concern.

I can see availability for both hotels at $150 a night on pc.com.
There are also now more room types available (Prestige suites showing up in June, for example), and they seem to have made the room descriptions better.

Hopefully more people will chime in about their experiences at this hotel. Seems like its hit or miss on if you get anything with ambassador, which worries me for using a BOGO here. If they don't give you anything for ambassador i doubt they would accept a coupon for a free night even if books through PC.

In terms of the property, the public areas can only be improved by demolition, but the rooms are fabulous.

It seems that I can book using the Intercontinental.com site, but with Priority Club.com or IHG.com, I'm getting an error message.
I did make a reservation a few weeks ago for early June, which I've changed on-line a couple of times as rates have fluctuated so much. However, when I now go onto the Current Reservations section of the PC website, it now tells me "To modify or cancel your reservation, please contact The Venetian and The Palazzo directly at 1-866-659-9645". The reservation has completely disappeared from the PC iPhone app.
Looks like there are a few technical problems...

Gave rservations a call and even they had problems booking it. Took a while but they eventually got it booked.
So yes the BOGO does work at this property ^^
Lets see if they give the free mini bar on the free night? Is that applicable?
Also I don't know if its a PC website issue but the rate was $279 + Tax + some other fees. Not sure if this is the resort fee or if the PC website automatically adds on some other fees?

So when you called/emailed PC/AMB to manually credit this, they could find that stay in the system (and you did not have to fax your folio) - right?
I had one booked via third party channel which despite adding my # did not post. I would like to see it in at least as "ineligible" stay for the sake of CtC, or of course, preferably take advantage of confusion and get full points/credits.
(on a related note third party booking and a friendly FD agent saved me $150 so i am not complaining :p)

Not sure what upgrade I got as I booked via the IC website and it was quite confusing as they don't tell you what suite you will get. Used a BOGO without any problems and excellent value as Saturdays are the most expensive day in Vegas and I got that free ^^

Anyway my friend was staying in a Rialto which is the next level higher then the Bella's and to be honest with you it was 99% the same aside from a bigger entrance area.

Maybe book a cancelable rate and keep watching to see if it drops for an advanced purchase rate. That way if the price spikes you only have to pay the rate you have booked already but if the price goes down you can take advantage of it.

Regular 'revenue' guest penthouse upgrades (in Vegas) are not a hugh deal, IMO. (though, still really nice). :D

You are missing a very big point here, unlike other IC hotels
THIS IS A CASINO PROPERTY! (sorry to shout)
The upper level suites ARE NOT (in 98% of the instances) controlled by the front desk!!! They are controlled by the CASINO!
The front desk has incentive to revenue upgrade (if they are light on players); for $400 to $1000/night for the Penthouse, and if they get a fish on the line for the revenue upgrade; the casino will release it... but, there are MUCH MORE powerful peeps controlling the rooms than the hotel GM. The hotel GM is just a paper-pusher. He/she has little 'real' control in a casino hotel; but he/she does have to have a nice smile. ;);)
Often, they use those upper level rooms to throw a bone to a smaller player if capacity is light. Smaller player = $25K to $50K credit line.
RAs have to embrace the (pretty decent) benefits (some limited upgrades, lounge, mini-bar, check-in efficiencies, gym/spa upgraded upgraded access etc...); but RAs also have to be realistic that they are very far from the 'top dog' status they get at non-casino ICs. :D
Of course, everything is YMMV, and it never hurts to ask (beg!)

Couldn't agree more. I was very satisfied with the VIP treatment during my stay there. I would go as far as saying that it was much better then my stays at most IC's across the world the past year and off course the mini bar has been the best so far. Much better then most of the IC's that have just a few beers.

^^
I just always try to remind people that at a casino property, the front desk (or hotel general manager) doesn't have the kind of control they would at a non-casino property.
V/P is a great addition to the IC line-up; but it's also one of the highest-player level casinos in Vegas. This does put RAs at a distinct disadvantage with regard to top room upgrades. Now, if it was like Paris Las Vegas ;); that would be a totally different story. A $100K credit-line at a place like V/P is just another 'nice' casino VIP. It's not a really big deal. This is ONLY the case at a few Vegas properties, and V/P is one of them.
Now, if you want a 'nice' property where the casino can't attract (the quantity they need) premium players, Cosmopolitan might be a good place to look. Much better chance that a Marriott Platinum (at Cosmo) will have more clout there than an RA at V/P. ;);)

I agree with you as this has been the pecking order in Las Vegas even before loyalty programs came into existence.
Back then Las Vegas was a small exciting intimate city without too much traffic
Over the years we have seen a number of these partnerships come and go
Planet Hollywood and SPG had about the best going nice strip view suites for SPG Platinums.I'm sure the really good vip suites went to the high rollers
None the less it was a great situation while it lasted. The Westin on the other hand couldn’t compare as well as the property had very few suites to begin with. To their credit they did offer some interesting perks along the way to keep things interesting.
In the end the success or failure of this relationship will depend on the overall satisfaction and expectations of elite members

The great thing about V/P is that EVERYONE gets a suite. True, it's not a separate bedroom suite; but the standard V/P room (suite) is better than most one level upgrades at other IC properties. It's basically a win-win scenario. Obviously, the suites above Bella (2 bed) and Luxury (1 bed) are much more limited in inventory.
My suggestion for V/P (which has worked for me in the past, albeit with comp suites) is to ALWAYS BOOK a bella (2 bedded) suite. In many cases, the bella (2 bedded) suites are in higher demand; because they also often have sofa beds. So, in theory, the room can accommodate 4-6 people. On a busy weekend, many of the LA 'club folk' (as well as families) will need a room to cram in a LOT of people. On more than one occasion, I've been asked if I'd give up my bella (2 bedded) and accept an upgrade to a larger (often one bedroom executive) one king bed suite.

I've moved on from V/P, but still really like the property. I still believe that V/P has the best in room dining in all of Vegas.
This was a trip where I was booked in a standard Bella (2 doubles) COMP room offer at Venetian, and was asked to give up my two beds for a one bedroom hospitality king suite @ Venetian.
I can probably answer a 'decent' number of questions about the properties. Of special note, which suites have terraces. ;)

(b) Giverny Suite @ Paris Las Vegas (CET loves me again in Vegas; basically my play in Atlantic City is now getting me 'proper' suites at Paris Las Vegas). Though, I still prefer the V/P suites. Unfortunately, gotta go where it's free..... The increase in action at V/P isn't worth the better property; and they are particularly 'evil' when it comes to dice (craps) ratings vis-a-vis comp rooms. (I mostly play dice in Vegas)

Actually, and I'll try to keep it short, since this is way off topic,
I was being over-comp'ed (well, everyone was) at "V/P" right after the opening of Palazzo.
When it comes to gaming, it's very important (as a player) to understand your 'value' based on your play. You can do these calculations relatively accurately, of course, always making a few assumptions.
With that being said, I don't play very much in Vegas. Atlantic City is my main market. The recession + opening of Palazzo added a ton of inventory and a drop in convention business at "V/P". It was the perfect time for casino marketing to make things very very *sweet* for players; therefore lowering the overall criteria. That's over now, since business is returning to normal levels (more so the convention bookings) at "V/P".

This actually reminded me that there was time when hotel status meant smth at casino properties. When Paris, Ballys Flamingo were affiliated with Hilton chain we stayed at Paris on several occasions. I recall receiving pretty decent suites (Giverny, Charlemagne, LeMans) just for being hilton diamond.

1. assuming brother books 2 rooms they are all covered under the RA and we get the upgrade as well.
2. I think it sounds like Palazzo is better than Venetian. anyone care to comment. the pool at the venetian sounds awful (noise).... I want some relaxing pool time... so am thinking palazzo more agreeable. also the hotel is a bit more modern???
i'm sure i"ll have many more questions. these are just the most obvious for now. it appears from what i have read so far, that it should be booked directly through IHG.
i was looking forward to our stay at the bellagio, but now with IHG being part of V/P it makes sense to change.
any thoughts welcome.

so my questions are as follows
1. assuming brother books 2 rooms they are all covered under the RA and we get the upgrade as well.
There have been a couple of threads dealing with RA benefits and booking multiple rooms. Bottom line is your brother can only be in one of those rooms so you shouldn't expect the other room to receive RA benefits. In the past, I have received fruit and water in the second room when staying at the IC Willard, but no free minibar.

Had a nightmare booking this today, somehow I managed to book the same room three times, Advance Purchase, I did manage to cancel two of the rooms but it is not showing as cancelled yet.
I could NOT use my BOGO, PC even rang the hotel and they said they have no rooms available, I replied that there were rooms available, but she said not at that rate! I said there are no black out dates with PC. but, would not have it, cannot use certificate

Many (if not all) of the Venetian rooms were renovated, just after the opening of Palazzo. With exception to Venezia Tower (no renovation, except removal tube TVs replaced with flat screens); AFAIK almost everything at Venetian has been renovated by now.

If you connect your suites (and there are many connectors @ V/P); only one RA (free) mini-bar should work out well. ;)

While there are no blackout dates, there may not be availability for rewards nights even when the hotel is not full (if the allocation has gone). This never used to be a problem for BOGO when you could book any rate, but I suppose they could ration BOGO nights now.

I know that you can check-in at the P for a room at the V and vice versa. So maybe they can. Although I was there last week and I doubt that at this early stage they are aware of much of the rules so you might get lucky.

Ambassador members receive a BOGO certificate every year upon membership activation or renewal. The cost to join is $200/32K points and to renew costs $100/20K points. In addition to the BOGO there is a myriad of benefits.
We just returned from 6 days at the Venetian and I was surprised to see that my Ambassador account listed it as a "non-qualifying stay." I emailed CS, we'll see...

I think the consenus was that you will get a one level upgrade whether you are Amb or RA, as all of the rooms are already classified as Suites. So if you book the cheapest room (as I have, for later in the month), the upgrade is to the same room but with a view - only around $30 per night value for my dates.

According to V/P you actually get a two level upgrade if you go from Luxury (1 King) to Luxury View because you go pass Bella (2 Queen) which falls in-between the two price-wise.
Personally I don't think an "upgrade" from a 1 King room to a 2 Queen room is a real upgrade. If I reserve a King bed I want a King bed. That's like going to McDonalds, ordering a small Coke, and getting upgraded to a large Mountain Dew for no charge. Sure the large costs more but I ordered a Coke.
Which is why I have reserved a Luxury View for my vacation in October. A V/P one level upgrade would be Bella View and a V/P two level upgrade is Prestige Luxury. If they don't give Prestige level out as upgrades then the next level is a V/P three level upgrade to Fortuna View (1 King 940 sq ft).

I just booked V for labor day weekend using BOGO. I wanted FRI/SAT but only SAT/SUN was available so I booked it. I was not expecting to pay a deposit. I might have booked a cheaper room had I known. I'm an RA and just booked King View at the Venetian for next w/e with a BOGO.
A couple of questions:
1 - I have read that King UGs to King view; anybody out there have any experience of what King View typically UGs to ?
2 - The rez displays an "average nightly rate" that does not take account of the fact that with the BOGO there is a free night, so strictly speaking, the "average" rate is half what is displayed. In fact, it shows 1st night as $249 and the 2nd for $299, so I should only pay $249 - right ? Anybody had any issues with applying the BOGO specifically to the second night ?
3 - Palazzo is also available on BOGO for next w/e for a shade less; however, from what I've read Venetian has the better lounge. Any other thoughts on V vs P ?

One thing to note if you are thinking of upgrading to the Prestige level: on the weekends the club lounge can be a zoo. I was there this weekend and literally it was difficult to find a seat between 5-8pm (when open bar is going on). They're seemingly upgrading too many people for the space available.

the standard $100 per day/upgrade fee to Prestige?
If that's the case, I find that $100/day (if it's not COMP) often exceeds the (rather minimal brekkie & appetizer) F&B expense, especially if you have free mini-bar and VIP lounge.

For comp guests Luxury (1 King) and Bella (2 Queen) have always been the same category = comp (free).
Your upgrades were then to View :

Bella to Bella View
Probably, the best thing to do, if you have a two level upgrade (and the rules are as you state) would be to book a Fortuna or Fortuna View. ;)

Yeah I likely wouldn't pay for the upgrade again. I was expecting a bit more on the food side in the lounge and thought that if we could knock out breakfast in there plus cocktails in the evening, it would pay for itself. Didn't really happen, however, since the breakfast is minimal and the lounge was ridiculously crowded in the evening so we didn't spend a lot of time there. We did get free access to the fitness centers, however, which we used each day.

I'm planning a weekend later this year, and thinking about spending one night at each--it's not (for a change!) about the extra points/stay credit, but I'm not sure I'll be in Las Vegas again while I'm still an RA, and this would be a chance to compare the RA upgrades/experiences at both properties. Doesn't seem it would be THAT inconvenient to check out/check in, particularly with guaranteed early checkin. Any thoughts on this?

Not worth the time or trouble.
Palazzo 'basically wins' --- exception, is if you want a 'standard suite' with a terrace (overlooking the garden), which is only available at the Venezia Tower @ Venetian (next to Bouchon).
Prestige wins @ Palazzo.

As noted Palazzo is better in general but if you travel alone and light and prices are similar I would consider that (at least for credits or points) - hotel hopping can't be easier than that. They use the same reservation system in house so they will see both reservations - just let them know that you are trying to compare and I assume they will post as separate stays.

Just finishing up a stay at the V on a BOGO. RA UG was from King View to Rialto which is 2Q; I would have queried that, but we didn't find out till we walked in, and my wife decided she preferred for us to be cosy in a Q.
VIP checkin is pleasant; lounge there not much to shout about. Minibar is fantastic - probably the best in the system. Plan to try the P later in the year.
Will be coming to Vegas more often now - BOGO makes the V/P a no-brainer. May even use my RA referral for my wife so that we can come with friends and share the luxury.

Gold Ambassador. Booked King Prestige Suite at Palazzo through ICH website for 2 nights this past weekend. Late check-in Fri night at the main desk around 10pm and received no upgraded suite. Was told at the desk to check in earlier and the 300 sq ft extra isn't really worth it. Still would have liked it! And I thought an upgrade was automatic?
We had a great time despite high expectations. Prestige level was nice for breakfast. Never got to the 5pm-8pm free-for-all. On Sat came back to our room to find a big fruit bowl and some Clicquot on ice. After a long day at Azure by the pool, it was tough to get motivated for it!

Yes, Ambassador members are guaranteed a 1-level upgrade from room type booked, and it is not subject to availability. If they cannot accommodate you, they should adjust the rate to 1 room-level lower.

Stayed last weekend and pretty much got nothing. Checked in at the elite/invited guest desk and was told there were no upgrades available.
The room we got was a low floor w a view of the ac units /wynn pool. The front desk was pretty rude/indifferent But I've found then to be like that even before the ich integration.
No water/fruit but i didnt bother to beg. I asked for late check out (till 1pm) and was told it was only paid late check out on that day, not complementary. I was checking out on a Monday morning... I explained to them that as a plat amb i'm typically given a 4pm check out for free. It took a couple convos w the front desk to confirm this... Very frustrating.
To add insult to injury, I get home and my stay is marked a non qualifying stay...
Oh well. It's not like I stayed at the palazzo because of the intercon alliance... And it probably won't stop me from staying here in the future...

I booked that promo package too and the 6000 bonus points did not post. I had to call and email them the confirmation details. After a review, they posted the points to my account. A bit of a hassle if you ask me, considering how I booked through the PC website, and received the confirmation email from the hotel. There must be a glitch in the system or maybe the alliance hotels aren't as "connected".

Booked a standard King Suite on points. Received an upgrade at check-in to a huge (c2,000 sq ft) suite - 2 bedrooms, 2 full en-suite bathrooms (plus sep. guest toilet) with a nice view acoss to Wynn, Paris etc.
Beautiful room & tons (too much!) space. We were there for a special occasion, which did help with the upgrade.

All-in-all a great experience and would definitely come back.
An update to my post. Called and mentioned that I didn't get an upgrade. They said we upgraded you to a view and that the view is a 1 level upgrade. Interesting, as I was told there were no upgrades available upon check-in. He offered to compensate $100 to my CC. No worries, I'll take it.
This won't deter me from staying at the Palazzo again. Loved our stay for the weekend. Everyone I talked to mention that it was a new relationship...so clearly they have things to iron out.

And since this is not posted anywhere in T&C u can disagree with them. And some people got their accelerator ajusted btw.
Can anyone confirm whether they've had adjustments made? I was also told that my stay did not count towards the ambassador accelerator due to some contractual reasons, which the rep did not elaborate. Would be nice if they can make exceptions.
Ambassador CS added on the 1k RA bonus manually after my stay, but won't budge on the Accelerator - just said that both the Venetian and Palazzo don't qualify.

As an RA if we book any of the Venetian/Palazzo packages on the hotel website, do these rates qualify for the usual RA upgrade/free minibar and maybe even for PC points and bonus? Or do only rates booked via IHG qualify?
I"m tempted to book a rate at the Palazzo with their recent summer deals but only if I also get my RA benefits.

Guest Relations not PC. I would contact the hotel directly before filing a Guest Relations complaint, but that is not required.
While I cannot comment on RA benefits. I know rates booked at the Palazzo do not qualify for stay credit or points. Funny thing is at check-in last week the front desk told me it does qualify. Then when the stay posted on my PC account it said non-qualifying stay
(I do not see why you will not get your RA benefits though)
Is this the definitive word...?? no qualifying nights and no points? I booked a stay in November with only that in mind... I might have gone somewhere else knowing that... I read back about 7 pages and it seems clear that the nights do not qualify for accelerator but without qualifying nights, I could do better at another property I think..

Not sure about qualifying points at this stage, but my partner is a new RA and we stayed here last week. Fantastic. Check in to the right at the VIP lounge (now marked with RA). They made it clear that minibar was free - including the snacks. VIP lounge was fairly basic but if you wanted an alcoholic drink they would get you one. Served sandwiches, cheese, cookies, tea, coffee that you could help yourself to. Pastries at breakfast.
I've found this thread very helpful, so thanks to all who contribute. Just thought i'd share our own experience. Will definitely let you know what happens with the points situation, I would expect that we would get them as was booked through IHG.

I just saw this term in a Venetian/Palazzo promo flyer that has been around for a while.
"Royal Ambassador Benefits:
... Mini Bar: As a Royal Ambassador member, you will receive a $100 credit toward mini-bar beverages per stay. "
It does not seem to be tied to a promotion.
There's been a few posts on here regarding these properties, but none reporting the limited mini-bar. Has anyone stayed long enough/emptied the mini-bar enough to know if they were implementing the $100 credit rule. I'm staying for 6 nights later in the year, which would work out at $18 a day credit.

I stayed a month back and didn't really empty it out but did have the Moet, Belvedere and a few beers which is definately over the $100 and wasn't charged anything.
Maybe its a new thing as I was told that all Mini bar including the snacks are free.
It is a wicked mini bar though, worth a good $400 so I am not suprised they are limiting it. :td:

Royal Ambassador Benefits:

...Mini Bar: As a Royal Ambassador member, you will receive a $100 credit toward mini-bar beverages per stay.
Has anyone seen this actually applied, my understanding from loads of reports on here is that they were honoring the free mini-bar in full. $100 per stay is a major limit if you are stay 4-5 nights (or 6 nights like I am later in the year).
I was told when I checked in a few days ago that the minibar was unlimited, but that they were changing that shortly to a limit of $100 per stay.
Agree that's not very much for a stay of several days--the champers, I believe, runs $49 + tax.

Hmmm..thats dissapointing, we now have IC's formally adjusting the RA benefits. I understand that its an ALLIANCE hotel, but is it the thin end of the wedge, if they can do it, why can't any other IC also set a similar policy. Remember at this property, RAs pay for the "free newspaper" and internet, via the daily resort fee. Whats next, late check-out only extended to 2pm at some properties ?
When is a "free mini-bar at IC hotels for RA" not a free mini-bar, when its a palazzo/venetian. Its a poor advertisment for their invitational elite program at some of the top properties in the ICH group.

I think if the Palazzo (and/or Venetian) were to change the RA free minibar status to $100 per stay, that would be pretty miserable.. Maybe $100 per day would be ok..... nah, what am I thinking.:p
It was one of the best parts of our stay there as RA's. I dont know about others, but I dont think we overindulged. They really shouldnt begrudge the free minibar.

Same goes for me. Stayed four nights and had the champagne every night plus two Diet Cokes and Vitamin Drink per day. That is way above $100.
But I think sooner or later they will impose something like a limit as the minibar has some quite expensive items...

My point is that it appears to be changing, I've looked at lots of palazzo/venetian promos and never seen that $100 drink credit per stay until now. Also someone posted on http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/17062866-post247.html that he was specifically told by the hotel that policy is changing shortly in line with what has been stated on the promo. And this is not an informal change by the hotel, its formally documented on ICH promos.

I am sure that the mini-bar items in Paris, London and for sure Geneva cost vastly more than the Palazzo and the measly $'s associated to the price there. ;)

Confirmation today from ambassador support (took them 3 days to reply )
"In as much as we would like to provide the complimentary mini bar and replenish it on a dally basis, we are unable to as most of our hotels are franchised and are therefore under different management. Please note though that the new policy is only applicable to Intercontinental Alliance Hotels"
So there you go, its official, stay at palazzo or venetian for a week as an RA, and you get a $16.60 daily mini-bar allowance.
The official priorityclubrewards rep still hasn't responded on that thread, do they only look in here once a week or, only respond to simple queries.

Having booked a non-refundable rate at Palzaao for next week, I have just had an email from Intercontinental Ambassador
Dear Mr. XXXXXX,
We can’t wait for you to experience your stay at The Venetian® or The Palazzo®, the first ever InterContinental® Alliance Resorts. As a Royal Ambassador Member you are one of our most valued guests and we are delighted you have chosen to stay with us.
Please be aware that all Royal Ambassador member benefits apply at these InterContinental Alliance Resorts with the exception of:
• Free Internet: Internet is included as part of the daily resort fee of your stay at The Venetian or The Palazzo.
• Mini Bar: As a Royal Ambassador member, you will receive a $100 credit toward the mini-bar/refreshment center per stay.
If you have any questions regarding your Royal Ambassador member benefits in advance of your stay, please visit www.intercontinental.com/allianceresorts.
I have written back stating that this is unacceptable given that I have made a booking in good faith, and on booking via priorityclub.com I of course got the message telling me that my ambassador privlidiges would be honored.
I stayed previously as a RA at Palazzo and there was no issue with the mini-bar, I have asked Ambassador services what they plan to do about this, given I can't cancel, and they have in effect changed significantly the experience of my stay.
Not happy !

So I've just had a conversation with Ambassador Services
They merrily quoted to me that the reason I've been told this is because they have changed their policy, however I pointed out that having booked this in April of this year, telling me 3 days before I arrive is not acceptable.
They simply pointed me to their T&C's which say they can make a change any time, that they don't have to inform me of that change, and that I have to be bound by that change.
I pointed out that they had entered into a contract with me to provide the given service at an agreed price, and at the time of entering into that contract I did so using the information and offer that the company was making. I asked if (given they accepted this was a change), I would be permitted to cancel the reservation... and was told 'no' it was not possible to cancel the reservation.
So it would seem that ICH don't really give a stuff. I now have a free mini-bar allowance of circa £15 per day which based on my last stay at Palazzo will just about buy me a G&T from the minibar. I wouldn't have booked Palazzo were it not for the value of this benefit, and ICH refuse to refund my booking.
Appalling customer service, the likes of which I have never seen before to someone whom ICH is supposed to view as their top-tier of customer.

Which as I said, is best summed up by them saying "tough".
I flagged this up on FT a couple of weeks ago, a page or so back. It appears that they are now sending all new bookings, and any existing bookings that are affected, the above "we can't wait...blah blah" message, the sole purpose of which is to tell you. you get a $100 mini-bar per stay (why tell anyone about the technicality of getting internet via the resort fee).
I think you are unfortunate in your non-refundable booking, but they'd probably say the free mini-bar was not part of the booking contract (which is correct), and that RA status is given as a freebie (again correct), so I can't see a breach of contract (but I'm not a lawyer).
I've a 6night stay coming up in nov, so I've used a bogo in the venetian (cancelled the bogo that I originally had in the palazzo), and then booked 4 nights in the palazzo, which at least gives me $100 each stay.
Note, that i said at the time that this might be just the begining, there is a poster on the IC Amstel thread today stating that his "free-minibar" only extends to the non-alcohol contents.

I tried this, let's see.
Slightly different in that I've already pre-paid, before the ruleset changed.
"Hello,
Given I made these reservations under the terms of the then current contract with you, which included full minibar, I regard this as a breach of our contracted agreement.
I therefore reserve the right to cancel the contract even under "advance payment" terms as you are not honouring a sale that has been completed.
I am taking advice before I decide how to proceed.
This benefit forms a great deal of the reason for choosing these hotels and now that benefit has been removed other chains look to be offering better value.
As a shareholder and member of many years this is the first time I have seen such blatant disregard for the membership.
A sorry day for Six Continents.

If you note from the palazzo thread, on my 4 night paid stayed (i'm RA), they "upgraded" me from a prestige luxury to a prestige luxury view, a room designation that does NOT appear on their booking engine (luxury and luxury view do exist on none-prestige bookings). This is a zero upgrade in my opinion, and even in their own terms refer to it as a 1-level upgrade in the email. So much for a 2-level upgrade. 2 levels should get you from prestige luxury to prestige fortuna.

Actually it does, when you make a booking it says across the top of the confirmation page "Ambassador privilidges apply for this booking" - if for example I make a booking at a non IC hotel as a RA, I get the reverse message, telling me that Amabassador privilidges do not apply.
As that's one of my Ambassador privilidges at the the time of booking, I would expect them to honor them - I have no issues with them changing things for future bookings, but not for a paid-for non-refundable rate.
I now have emails outstanding with Ambassador Services, VIP Services at Palazzo and ICH helper on here. Let's see what they come back with.

She spoke with a front desk manager at Palazzo and called me back to say that on this occasion, as a valuable Royal Ambassador member (I don't know if she meant I'm more valuable than others, or just all RA's are valuable) the hotel has agreed to stand by the terms and conditions that were offered at the time of booking.
So a very rare positive result

Well done, If I was in your position, I'd make sure I have something in writting to take with me. if they don't have a note of this, then I'm guessing no one at the hotel will waive it unless you have confirmation of the exception.

How about standing to the T&C of IC RA instead of creating an exception?

While this change isn't great, remember that as an RA you do get access to the small "VIP" lounge in the Palazzo (just behind the check-in area) which offers free drinks (including champagne on request, I think) 24 hours a day - does the Venetian have something similar?

Yep, Venetian is the same.

Yep, Venetian is the same.
Is this a confirmed policy or another "negotiating" point?

No joy for me as a Royal Ambassador. :( I'm stuck with the $100 limit for my stays in Oct. But, this will be the first time at The Palazzo so I don't have any history with them.

I just submitted a Best Price Guarantee claim on The Venetian for Oct 21. Priceline has a "Bella Suite" for 449. (They also have a "Bella-2 Qn Beds" for 509.) IHG has "Bella Suite 2 Queen Beds" for 509. Since the Venetian site itself says a "Bella" is a suite with 2 queen beds I'm hoping they don't nitpick my claim. You can't get a "Bella Suite" with only one bed nor can you get a "Bella 2 Queen Beds" that isn't a suite.
I will update when I get a reply.

Just as I feared. BRG Guest Relations is claiming the "Bella Suite" on priceline doesn't qualify for the BRG.
"Please be informed that the lower rate you are claiming is for a different room type. This, as verified by Priceline.com that the USD 449.00 for a Venetian Bella Suite (Suite Features A Living Area, Personal Business Center And Large Bathroom With 17-Inch Flat-Screen Tv) is a smaller room with only 1 bed. Unlike the Bella-2 Qn Beds-700 Sq Ft-Marble Bath which is an upgraded version of the first room listed."
I've e-mailed The Venetian Reservation Desk asking if they have a Bella Suite with only one bed.
Does anyone have first hand experience with a one bed "Bella Suite"?
