I tried to book an Embassy-Suites on the web site, couldn't, telephoned, was told phone reservations had *no* connection to web reservations <puzzlement>, was transferred, reported the problem and asked when the site might be working. "We've had problems since December." So no time soon.

Call me crazy but last time I checked Crowne Plaza is in the Holiday Inn chain isn't it?

<duh> Of course you are right! I meant Embassy Suites. Thanks for being so quick on the uptake.

Sylvia -- Could you be a bit more specific? What was the location and dates, and what was the problem with your reservation? FWIW, I've made several reservations on Hilton's web site this month, and had no problems so far.

Sylvia it might be less confusing for other FTs if you go in and revise your first post from Crowne Plaza to Embassy Suites.
Now, I tried to see if there is anything for next week 1/28-2/8...and all of the Hilton Properties online showed not avaliable.

Al -- Not sure which properties you were trying to book, but I just checked Hilton's web site for several properties in St. Louis for the upcoming stay on 1/28 and 1/29, and there is plenty of availability for both Hilton and Embassy Suites hotels.
Hi Eugene, I am trying to look at properties in TUS... diane from the other thread just answered my question concerning the rate hikes here...looks like they are having some kind of a Gem Show...so the website might be correct that all Hilton properties are booked...and especially with the kind of extended stay i have,1/28-2/8 it will be even more difficult to book a room.

Al -- Out of curiosity, I just checked your location and dates, and had no problem whatsoever finding availability at the Hampton Inn and Suites Tucson-Mall for the whole duration of your trip.
eugene I appreciate it http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
However, that property is too far away http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

More detail on the problems: I had a hard time finding the Embassy Suites section of hilton.com, kept being told my browser wasn't secure, ... Many options didn't display. Found the Suites, tried to book, got a 404 error, gave up and telephoned Hilton's 800 number. (And, off this topic, was startled at how high the rates were - I think $180 was the best they offered. Mid February.)

I have no idea what ES you are considering but I too have found the ES quite pricey, quite over-run with kids, many getting shabby and crappy sparse managers receptions. I have successfully avoided most of them lately. Go with Homewood Suites if possible. A much nicer deal.

Sylvia -- To search all Hilton family properties (e.g., Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn, Doubletree, Homewood Suites, etc.), use this link: http://www.hilton.com/en/hi/hotels/search/search_cross.jhtml? . Alternatively, after you've done a search for Hiltons on hilton.com, scroll down the page until you see "Not finding what you need? Search other Hilton Worldwide properties." Click on "Search Other", and select "Search All Brands" (or select whichever brands you are interested in).
To search Embassy Suites properties exclusively, go to http://www.embassysuites.com .
Hope it helps.

Jumpin' in here....totally concur with
Mr Nice. Had a misconnect in Philly due
to ATC delays and had a child with me.
Did not want to chance an unsafe hotel,
so chose the ES-airport location. I had
not stayed at one in several years and was
totally surprised at the slide in their
hotel standard.
Like Mr. Nice, I can highly recommend
Homewood Suites based on a recent stay
there at their Dallas location. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
PS. Saw an FT post advising HW satisfaction
guarantee like Hampton recently.
