View Full Version : Couple of service improvments

This month's FF letter from Bedford mentions a few improvments, some of which specifically benefit elites:

(1) Redesigned onboard service flow to offer meals sooner and more clearly explain the options available.

(2) Elite security lane in KC

(3) Elite FF card will now work to enable TV for free, rather than having to wait for the F/A. (Potentially that means you can use it to enable the TV of travel companions, too.)

(4) New premium spirits, incluing Makers Mark bourbon and Glenlivet scotch, plus half-bottles of wine.

No word on the wifi yet, but I have heard rumblings that some necessary certification is in the works. Certainly not counting that chicken until it's hatched, but I'm glad to hear wifi hasn't been fully scrapped. Probably best for them to not make any more wifi promises until they are certain.

Very smart move. Surely the system will only allow one use per flight.

What amazes me is that they can enable something that seems somewhat technically difficult to me, but yet, I can't change my seat on their web-site.

I'm assuming DEN and MKE have elite security lines already?

Yeah...from what I've heard, there are some fundamental web page stumbling blocks with the vendor that hamper attempts to improve functionality. The new website they talked about a few months back was only a "refresh" in that it was more about stuff Frontier controls like layout and placement, not an improvement to the real bones underlying the website which would add functionality.

I don't know what the next step is. My hope is that they are looking to scrap the vendor (assuming the vendor is not on the cusp of having a competitive product) and choose a new one which allows them to have at least cutting edge 2005 ability. Although it will cost a good deal of money and effort to go through a conversion like that, the website is of massive importance because a huge amount of revenue passes through there, and it's a touchpoint (at one point or another) for the large bulk of their entire customer base. Whatever they do with the website, they need to make sure it does not go backwards in any way. As much as we dislike key functionality shortcomings or get frustrated when it times out or acts oddly, a poorly-executed transition could actually make things worse.

Yes...I think that most if not all places where TSA has high-tier lines, Frontier summit and ascent are welcome there. Some locations like LGA pier B simply don't have elite for anybody. KC is unusual in that every airline essentially has their own security for their own set of gets, and the narrow terminal makes the whole security queue tight. But often KC has short lines. However at peak times the lines are longer than what many are used to, and having an elite line is a nice option.

Keep holding your breath for that much delayed new website. :p

When/if it debuts, don't be surprised if it lacks that capability.

I wonder if the mobile site will be available first. A good mobile site should offer some increased functionality over the current website.

I am not too optimistic about either.

There have been numerous unfulfilled promises. Just to name a few, DEN Best Care Club, FF partnership. Bedford can talk a good game, but delivering is another story.

Frontier summit and ascent are welcome there.

As well as Classic Plus ticket holders.

I wonder if my Ascent card will bring up my reservation at the check-in kiosk now.
