What does everyone think? Will my A+ Credits Count Toward a Companion Pass on WN post merger? If so, I'll probably start flying AirTran instead of United.

I think if the answer was YES, they would have announced it a long time ago to keep people from switching to another airline. HPN-HRL Sep 2, 11, 3:01 pm I would not expect A+ credits to count toward WN Companion Pass, as the current WN CP rules only allow a few ways to earn toward CP. Given the recent 717 announcement, I am beginning to doubt that A+ credits will have any value in WN's Rapid Rewards... thehazard Sep 7, 11, 4:29 pm Given the recent 717 announcement, I am beginning to doubt that A+ credits will have any value in WN's Rapid Rewards... That doesn't make sense.... there is no correlation between A+ Credits and the format of a plane. The reason why SW wants to get rid of the 717 is since they don't fit into their fleet. One of the things that made SWA so successful is how their planes are nearly uniform. This allows for more flexibility, cheaper repairs/maintenance, better trained mechanics, less spare parts stored, and higher profits. I took the "get rid of the 717s as soon as practicable" announcement as yet another sign that WN may be planning to keep FL separate from WN in as many aspects as possible - keep the 717s under FL's operations, keep employee contracts separate, keep FFs separate, etc. I'm probably reading too much into WN's latest moves... lougord99 Sep 8, 11, 5:02 pm Yes you are. There is no question that any resemblance of Airtran will be gone at some point in the future - that being at most 2 years down the road but most likely sooner than that. |
