Central America - Best bang for the buck-central america

Does anyone have any great suggestions for Central America for February.
A nice beach with fresh seafood.

Usually we go to Jaco in Costa Rica, but that is too upscale now.

We are looking for a place to hang out.
Jaco is just too crowded and commericial.

santa teresa/mal pais in CR....montezuma also in Guanacaste/CR could be another possibility seems to be the current off the beaten path yet not that far away

panama probably will offer you a better bang for buck, I am sure someone will chime in

I am looking for the exact same thing. Travel companion squashed anywhere in Mexico so I am looking for a beach area that offers good value.

I was actually looking at Best Western Jaco as rooms are going for $100/night.
Any reputable sights that offer villas or condos in these areas?
I am trying to go as inexpensive as possible.

Was just in Jaco yesterday. When I go by myself I go ultracheap (with a few conveniences such as short distance between bar and room....in case my stability is compromised :D )

Morgan's cove is a nice/decent hotel, usually 65 bucks/night , free breakfast

the center is a few blocks away from it

I've been meaning to stay in Poseidon but since I have a car and they don't have free parking...my cheapo mentality has prevented it, perhaps next time I will go there

oops......you said villas or condos, http://www.daystar-properties.com/ ....those guys TOTALLY OVERBUILT in jaco....they have at least 4 buildings (and they were planning like 3 more when the economy crashed)
