FTD, or "How to lose a customer in ten minutes..."
A month after the order date, my FTD miles still have not posted. I called 1-800-SEND-FTD and got Gene. The fuzzy background indicated to me that I was speaking to a rep many miles away. I explained the situation and asked when my miles would post. He then asked me for my name, address, address of the recipient, what was written on the card and the last four of the credit card number, in addition to other items that I have forgotten (in order to verify me; This guy has a career at the TSA coming!). He told me that the miles had posted. I informed him that they hadn't. He read back to me the US Airways number. I told him it was the correct. He told me the miles had posted. I told him they hadn't. He told me that he would let management know (CEO or CFO?) and I asked him when the miles would post. He didn't know. I asked him if they would contact me. He said they would, but didn't know when. I like to keep track of whom I spoke to, so I asked him what location he was at. He told me that the company was headquartered in Downers Grove, IL (now that's a downer) but that he was not allowed to release his location. Too bad, since I was going to take my GS miles and fly to wherever he was to buy him tea.
I didn't really trust that he knew what he was doing, so I got a supervisor. She told me that, in fact, the miles hadn't posted but assured me that Gene would be reprimanded. Pictures of a dungeon, the gimp and whips/chains immediately came to mind, so I told her that perhaps it would be better if he were just corrected on procedure. She agreed. No gimp. She told me that she would personally deliver the mileage request to a specialist who would process them immediately. When? Dunno, maybe 24-48 hours.
I wouldn't have ordered from FTD if it weren't for this promo, but if I had previously had any thoughts of doing so, they are gone now. I can only what it is like to try to get a missed delivery fixed.
Note to all companies who view customer service as a cost center rather than a revenue center: You will be reprimanded. I heard the gimp has some availability.

What kind of problems? I did multiples fine without private browsing or clearing cookies. Clicked through US Airways link everytime and got separate quote numbers in emails for each.

How much are the whips/chains with shipping? Do they come via Fedex or by local delivery?

First error was a clear "online quote not available" after first page, then I went all the way before getting an unknown error but it included a quote number.

I assume those who did 21st quote stopped at the quote page, and didnt proceed to purchase page where they request VIN, DL# etc?
Guess I misunderstood. I thought we had to give them our DL# etc. before they'd release the quote. So I did, figuring I'd opt out of whatever followup they'd do. Then, when I got the quote (on bare-bones minimum coverage) it confirmed my intention: Twice as much as I'm paying now for a good deal more than bare-bones coverage. 21st Century, it's been swell...
BTW, sorry to hear about your FTD tribulation, mikeef, but thank you for the report. :)

A quote is not supposed to be a hit -- but it sounds as if US may not be following its own rules.
In any event, a quote is absolutely supposed to be worth 200 miles, hit or no hit.
There's room for interpretation on both sides. The T&C state:
Miles earned for requesting a free quote for a service
It then goes on to say what counts as a hit:
21st Century Auto Insurance
(max 1 hit)
LasikPlus – surgical procedure only
(max 1 hit)
A surgical procedure could be classified as a service whereas insurance is a product. Insurance salespeople are usually on commission and depend on leads like this to sell their product so it is beneficial to them to get our information so they can try to sell us insurance. Disallowing the Lasik quote was probably done to prevent the doctors from being flooded with people who have perfect vision and no need of the surgery but trying to get the free hit.
US had ample time to state in the individual hit descriptions something like:
21st Century Auto Insurance - Purchase of insurance policy only
(max 1 hit)
Since they didn't get specific, whether that was their intention or not, they are probably giving us the benefit of the doubt and allowing the insurance quote to stand as a hit--but they may tighten this one up next year and specifically disallow it. My guess is that the Lasik doctors got upset at having their time wasted over the free hit last year and requested this amendment.

SuperShuttle just posted.
I actually took the thing from Downtown Denver ot DEN and it was AWFUL.
Never again.
Read of your experience and became a little concerned. But today had quite the opposite experience to DEN. Driver arrived in a black towncar 10 minutes early (I had booked the van), straight to the airport, arrived 2-1/2 hours early for the flight. Seems like a good deal for $26, considering the snow, too. Must have been that prepaid tip!

My drain brush is on back order (ordered on 9/20, then first email said 10/10 ship, then 2nd email said 10/13 ship date). So, I'm a little worried about the "hit".
Anyone having similar problem with the drain brush or other skymall items?
Did you ever get your drain brush?
Have you got your SkyMall miles? If so, was the activity date the date of order or the date of shipping given that it was initially back ordered?

Mine posted for the drain brush (which completely stopped up my drain when I used it; so much for trying to go for something "useful" that I hadn't previously realized I "needed") and I had a similar experience with the back order notices. Purchased 10/1, 2 back order notices (until 10/10 and 10/13), shipping notice of 10/7, receipt a couple of days later, and post date of 10/10 (showing activity date of 10/1).

Does a Sentry Insurance quote count as a hit? In the TCs it doesn't say it doesn't?
Did anyone figure out how to do this hit? Everytime I've tried to click on the link from the US Air page, I get to a Sentry page that has an error on it and won't work. Then when I went to the general Sentry page (which says the new website is coming in August, interesting) it just takes your info and says someone will call you for a quote and doesn't have a place to enter a promo code. So I did not do that.
Has anyone tried calling the 800 number and giving the promo code? I am guessing maybe this one is 1,500 miles for the quote instead of the 200 like the other quote, is becuase you apparently have to actually talk to someone to do it? Then I am also wondering if it is all over the phone, will they really give me the miles and I won't have any screenshot for proof.
So not sure if it's worth it and if anyone has had it work.

Delivered on the 18th. I understand that there is a discrepancy on which date is the activity date, but PG 1 of this thread said it is the order date for FTD.

I just had long conversation with a very knowledgeable agent at the DM service center. As it turns out, it seems that NO ONE has gotten a hit yet for the "Magazines for Miles" hit if miles were redeemed to get a magazine subscription. The intent of that hit was for people to use the "Magazine Mileage Rewards (http://shopping.usairways.com/en-US/dividendmiles/earnmiles/other.html#Magazine%20Mileage%20Awards)" partner. But US listed "Magazines for Miles" as the Grand Slam partner.
But don't worry! He told me that the Marketing Department will indeed be giving a hit for redeeming miles through the Magazines for Miles portal after all, due to the mistake caused by US.

In my case, it makes perfect sense that Magazines for Miles has not yet counted for a hit. I have 31 hits posted, and I thought I had 32. That's why I called the DM service center. The Magazines for Miles activity (9/14/11 "ONLINE REDEMPTION -400") was not yet counted as a hit for me.

The only one confirmed to earn a hit is the magazine orders from here (http://www.usairways.com/en-US/dividendmiles/usemiles.html).
This takes you to https://www.mybonuscenter.com/10007662/portal.html and posts as "ONLINE REDEMPTION". This is the only site mentioned in the Grand Slam T&C as earning a hit, and this has absolutely been confirmed as earning a hit.
There are two other magazine sites. One is MagsForMiles.com and allows you to spend miles for magazines. I know some people tried this because they didn't like the magazine selection at the other site, but I don't know if it's been confirmed as a hit. It also posts with a different activity line.
The other site is Magazine Mileage Awards, where you earn miles for buying magazines. This is at the same site as the spend miles portal, but also has not been confirmed as a hit.

I ordered flowers for the MIL thru 1-800 on 10/3 to be delivered on 10/6. This item was on sale, but it had a space for the US DM# and the promo code box was left blank. (I took a screen shot to be safe).
After waiting 3 weeks for a post, I called the number mentioned in earlier posts and spoke to an awesome CSR. After about a 1/2 hr on the phone she told me there was nothing to be done for miles, but she could offer me a $20 GC. Seeing that would barely get me anything from the website, I declined, insisting even 10 miles would be better than a GC. She put in my request and promised a call.
I received an email the next day rejecting my request for miles, but logged into my US DM account to see:
10/3/2011 10/24/11 1-800-FLOWERS BONUS 200
Then, around lunchtime that same day, the same CSR called me back (she was a real sweetheart) telling me they made an exception and were posting my miles.
It was quite the runaround, but I got the miles! I highly suggest you call and guilt the company by saying you chose their company over many other GS partners, and that you now regret that decision and are not sure if you will use them as an airline partner in the future if they do not honor mileage awards. I have 29 hits posted. US Airways confirms 29 hits. 1 of those 29 hits is the use miles hit with a ONLINE REDEMPTION -400 activity. It was in fact one of my first hits and has counted since 9/14 for every single sweep.
Thanks for the details. I look forward to the response I get from the DM service center regarding why my magazine miles redemption has yet to count.

I got 54 miles for the Biscoff in my account ordered 10/3, and 18 miles in Mrs. dwcatty's account ordered 10/6. (Both accounts are the old 111X1X1 style.)
FWIW, with both orders I used BELGIUM as a discount code, so saved a few bucks and still got the hit. And the spread. Ob Homer: Mmmm, Biscoff!

I've been working on 6 accounts and I could only use so many flower hits so I started buying cookies and I should have done this from the beginning! Cheryl's cookies from 800-Flowers are delicious! We ordered two batches for Halloween and they are scrumptious.
FTD has Mrs. Fields cookies which are always good. They also have oranges.

I originally ordered on 9/22. On 10/1, since I had not received a posting, I e-mailed Biscoff and asked about the miles. They responded on 10/4/11, stating that the DM number was not associated with the order and that it was eligible for the miles. I provided them with my DM number and the miles posted yesterday. The activity date is the date that they responded to my inquiry, not the order date.
BTW - thanks to the people on the board for suggesting that I contact them. I was originally wondering if my order was too close to the cut-off date.

Called Biscoff this morning to inquire about the lack of miles posting and got about the best CS possible.
No, US DM numbers were not attached to the order.
You'll get the 250 plus 1mile/$1.
Don't worry you'll get credit for a hit because your activity date is fine.
All this without even prompting on my part.

My wife made key lime pie with Biscoff crust last weekend and it was to die for!....Thanks ! found a reccipe:
Jaime’s Key Lime Pie
1 1/4 cups Biscoff cookie crumbs
2 Tbsp. sugar
5 Tbsp. unsalted butter, melted
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
4 large egg yolks
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons fresh or bottled Key lime juice
3/4 cup chilled heavy cream
2 Tbsp. powdered sugar
•Preheat the oven to 350°F and get out a 9-inch pie plate, preferably glass.
•Use a fork to stir together cookie crumbs, sugar, and melted butter in a bowl, then press mixture evenly onto bottom and up side of the pie plate.
•Bake for 10 minutes and set aside to cool. Leave oven on.
•Whisk together condensed milk and yolks, then add lime juice and continue whisking until thoroughly combined and slightly thickened.
•Pour filling into crust and return to the oven for 15 minutes. Cool pie completely, then cover and chill overnight or for at least 8 hours.
•When you’re ready to serve, beat the cream and powdered sugar in a bowl using an electric mixer (Jaime wowed me by using her food processor) until it just holds stiff peaks. Add more powdered sugar to taste, if desired. Spoon and smooth the whipped cream over filling and serve.

Computer isues with Biscoff? Hmmm - I have received several different quantities of Dividend Miles for the exact same shipment of Biscoff cookies this month. This tells me that there is a manual process in there somewhere.
"I know what you’re thinking: 'Did he get 256 miles, or only 250, or 25, or 18 or 8?' Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I’ve kinda lost track myself. But being this is Grand Slam, the most powerful promotion in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you’ve got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya, punk? -- Harry Callahan

 either it will post or it wont, if it doesnt it seems NetSo wont be giving any refunds so that means Disputing the charge with your CC, and either they will accept it or not. If my CC accepts it and yours doesnt not much you can do about it
Then again Ive called in Disputes where the CC simply credited me the amount out of their pocket and didnt Charge it back to the vendor, its like a Petty Cash thing on their side and not worth going after every disputed charge, if you have had x amount of charges with that CC at times they will go that route just to get rid of it and not to anger the very good customer
thusly why I dont feel NetSo needs its own thread, its a very Black and White issue

10/24/2011 10/28/11 VINESSE.COM WINE PURCHASE 65
In the intrest of trying to buy useful items I went for the cookbook.
For some reason I am worried about my SkyMall purchase. I ordered a cheesy Halloween decoration for just under $3.00, worried because I had a hard time navigating the online store. Luckily it is still early enough to make a descision on an insurance hit.
I will order some flowers for my mother-in-laws birthday today for hit #30, then I have two hotel stays, churnh 2 rental cars and do a legit (needed for travel) rental car-run over Veteran's Day weekend to finish up my 36 hits

I did a non-US flight but still got the mileage posting by Friday of the week I made the reservation. It is true that on the reservations page of supershuttle's website, the fields marked in bold are required, and everything but "number of bags" is marked in bold, including airline info. However, I would try to argue this with supershuttle, especially because it doesn't sound like you had trouble booking the reservation without entering in airline info. Also seems silly to me that you'd have to be flying on US to get US miles for booking the shuttle; I would also try arguing this with supershuttle. Maybe they're just sick of no-shows on the shuttle :)
Also, just saw that you said you selected "not arriving by airline." I didn't even know that was an option. If so, seems that you really shouldn't have a problem when explaining your situation to supershuttle. I'm sure there are many reasons folks meet others at the airport and need to ride together - dropping off cars, etc., etc.

I think I left airline name and flight no blank as they are not mandatory.. I had a very lengthy argument with the customer care .. although she filed a complaint I don't have any hopes .. may be have to make one more reservation with selecting a valid US Air flight information

It won't prevent theft, cause all you have to do is pull off the tag. How is the TIB tag better than putting on your own sticky label? $24.99 for this? It all depends on the people that find you lost device with the sticker. The sticker does say "reward" so the finder has some incentive to call the number, and in a lot of public places, like airports, there are so many items lost every day that they have people hired whose only job is to deal with the lost items. I can imagine that these people would call the number.

RE: Biscoff:
1) Ordering system validates Ship to OR Billing First name (unclear which)against FIRST name on DM account PRIOR to transmitting order to US. No match, no transmission, no credit and no hit
2) Anomaly (?) the last digit of DM# truncated at order creation time, which also prevents transmission of order to US
3) Calling the cust svc number will enable a manual post. Miles post monthly at end of month (25th is cutoff)

I added "Try Us You’ll Like Us for Fall Just $9.99" (from Cheryls) to my cart. Thinking YES this is cheaper than flowers. Picked a standard shipping date.
Next to shipping charge is a question mark box which brings up shipping charges:
The following shipping charges apply to delivery from UPS or FedEx:
Merchandise Amount Total Shipping Charge
Up to $14.99 $4.99
Has anyone else noticed that 1800 baskets is trying to rip people off? I chatted with their customer service who gave me no answer but to call 1800 baskets. After calling 1800 baskets I wasn't given an answer other than shipping is "$7.99" and the dumb person on the other end didn't know what I was talking about. I just hung up because it doesn't seem like my arguing is worth $3. I believe the price I see when I look at the shipping charges is outdated, but they should then update their site. I am still debating whether I want to just pay them $3 extra or not get a hit and give them no business.

That's the way it works. They make a lot of their margin on S&H charges.

I should have done this rather than waiting an hour+ at JFK for a roundabout van to Manhattan (at midnight no less!) Very, very aggravating and slower than the lowest cost reasonable option, namely Airtrain and the subway.

It should post this Friday.
In any event and under no circumstances would I call them!! I recall a couple of posters on this board who called asking for the miles. Once their claim was investigated and determined that the trip was no-show - they told they don't get any miles for a no-show.

Skymall is like a conglomeration of many small merchants so it's not a real time inventory. They send orders to merchants and then the merchant responds. I also had an order cancelled.

try ordering the Plug Adaptor for $2.85 just make sure you indicate which you want dont order the 1 shown as thats for use in the US. I ordered the 1 for Europe even thou I had 1 already, and on my just concluded trip ended up needing to use 2 of them at the same time in order to recharge a couple of things so it came in very handy

I would wait a few more business days before chasing this one.. More than likely nothing changed between 10/24 and 10/27

Uh oh...
PERSONALIZED DOG WITH BONE (#29232) was registering as a hit in orders in September then 1-800-Flowers stopped crediting the hit. Because posting has been slow, this was not noticed until a pattern began to emerge. There is an email into the referees but its looking like a Miles of Mysery goodwill disaster in the making. It makes for quite a fiasco when vendors post hits in the begining of a promotion, then stop posting hits midstream. Must say the merchandise was well received, but this business is all about spending money to accumulate airline frequent flyer miles. When a customer is enticed to do business and finds instead he/she has been given the business, you can expect the business will be given back. Play fair ball or risk the fans getting out of their seats to take to the field!

Hit 10. Dividend Miles Shopping Portal – $3.09
You have virtually limitless options on this hit, but we ordered a Crest 3D Vivid Toothpaste from Walmart.com (linking through the US Airways portal) and it came to $3.09 with no shipping fee. Useful and a hit. Smile big and pretty now!

was this 1 of those items that had the Red Warning sentence of not qualified due to it being a discounted item and you did like I did on another item and simply removed the code and wrote down your DM# hoping it would slip thru? If yes then dont blame them, I dont just cause 1 or 2 people were able to get the Hit when they shouldnt have doesnt mean any Vendor was playing Unfair
in my case I took the chance when I should have simply purchased the 9.99 book instead, so I hit a foul ball on the 1st swing and got the book for my next swing and got the Hit

OK, so I take back some of the mean things I said about OfficeMax:
I placed an order on 9/24. When it appeared that no miles would post absent intervention, I bugged them until I got an email promising a manual credit, which then posted as follows:
10/13/2011 10/14/11 OFFICEMAX CREDIT 6
Today, this posted:
9/24/2011 10/31/11 OFFICEMAX CREDIT 7
My tentative conclusion: OMX really will post miles 5 (or 6 or 8) weeks after the transaction & put the right activity date on it, even if you don't nag them.

Yeah, I don't think anyone was actually getting this hit automatically.
I purchased this at the very start of the promo based on the account of someone getting miles by not entering a promo code but entering their DM number. Bad idea, as I then spent 2 weeks e-mailing and calling to get credit with NO luck at all. Gave up and bought something else.
Ends up your DM number doesn't get attached to the order. You have to plead your case, and more likely than not, you'll get denied due to terms.

No, I flag the mines in the mine field before others run into them. The vendors are enticing us to do business with them then playing games. This is a case where a vendor states in red "Promotion Codes are not accepted on this item" but denies miles when no promotion code is used and the DM# is provided just the same as it is provided on all the other purchases of all the other vendors. This ain't a personal vendetta, this is business. You want to defend the vendor by saying "Promotion Codes are not accepted on this item" means the same as "Dividend Miles will not be issued for this item" go ahead.
You really think you would convince a jury in court with that argument? Not a chance over here.
So no foul ball, just a bad call by the ref and many of the fans, having just seen a rigged game in United Stadium, are incensed.

To be fair, the statement "Promotion Codes are not accepted on this item" could be unclear to some individuals. As a 'veteran GS player', this means no airline miles to me...but a "rookie" GS player may not know it. How about stating "This item does NOT qualify for airline miles."? This is pretty clear.

I note for the record that the last time you started such a thread, it was to sound a premature alarm about something (a points.com transfer) that wasn't actually a problem.
As for "flagging the mines" for others about 1-800-Flowers and the no-promo-codes restriction, that topic was discussed in detail in Other Partners beginning as early as August 30. (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/17020713-post3.html) And post #1 in that thread provides a concise summary of the current state of play on such sale items.

the Warning signs were all in post #1 and everyone knew it was a Gamble, the sad thing is this time it didnt pay off. There were plenty that did so over all Im OK with it
theres a sign "Mine Field Ahead" and looking across I see a bunch of people who are laughing since they just walked thru it and had no problems. Sure enough another person walks thru it and gets blown up, turns out the switch to activate the mines was turned off, when this last poor fellow walked thru they just turned them back on. In the US thats grounds for a law suit, but the warnings were there
I can see the T&Cs for next year being no picnic as they try to make it alot more expensive to get the Hits

For those who still need a Dividend Miles Shopping Mall hit, the $2.00 Pet Smart charity contribution is available - you just have to be careful how you do it. There are two different links, and one appears to give miles and one does not. It is a bit sneaky, although I don't think intentionally so.
When you are at the DMSM portal you do not want to go to PetSmart and then do a search for donations. If you do, you will end up in petsmartcharities.com. There the least expensive donation is $25, although you can enter any amount. I did so ($2) two weeks ago and never received a hit (others may have different experience, however).
What you want to do to insure getting the hit is at the DMSM entrance page (IMPORTANT: after you have logged in with your FF#) type or paste "PETSMART CHARITIES DONATION" into the Search Site box. This will bring up two options, a $2 donrtaion and a $20 donation. These are clearly eligible for miles, the page shows:
$2.00 | (3 Miles per $1)
Earn 6 Miles
PETSMART CHARITIES DONATION
And that will get you a hit.
10/14/2011 10/20/11 SHOPPING MALL, PETSMART 6
Don't wait to the last minute - the above donation was made 10/12 with an activity date two days later.

After doing a chat, they were willing to give me a $10 discount on this same order. But it turned out to be a moot point as you can't get miles for this item (despite the lack of a "This special offer cannot be combined with Promotion Codes." warning).

Well this is relatively unrelated to the chaos at hand, but thought it would be appreciated. I sent a very polite email to Biscoff since 2/3 boxes of cookies I've eaten so far, while tasty, have not been much more than ice cream crumble topping. I was more amused than anything, given that the one in the tin was the most shattered. Today they sent back this:
It's unfortunate that the majority of your cookies were broken; not very satisfactory at all. What I will do is have a replacement shipped out to you today via USPS Priority Mail and you can expect it to arrive within the next 2-3 business days. Under no circumstance should you receive a package full of broken cookies. We apologize for any inconvenience.

No beltway - a valid points.com transaction would not post. This is a transaction that posted 8 times for our ball team and then suddenly was changed. At the point that the transaction failed a system change had been made. That the change was reversed out later was noted.
Fast forward to 1-800-Flowers. Two transactions posted for our ball team, then 8 transactions lingered. The vendor wording for the merchandise said nothing about miles not being given, only that promotional codes could not be used. Test the system - promotional codes and Airline Frequent Flyer numbers are entered on *two different fields.* Make no mistake - a promotion code and an Airline Frequent Flier account number are not the same thing - to the customer, to the 1-800-Flowers order entry system, to the vendor or to a jury.
It has been validated in writing that 1-800-Flowers intends to deny the hit. The vendor has shown intent and the evidence is clear that the customer has no way from the vendor site to learn of the vendor intent other than to buy the product, consume it, and discover weeks later that the vendor will not deliver frequent flyer miles for the purchase.
What part about the "strike zone" being manipulated do you not understand? If the situation is following the Month of Miles pattern, the vendors are seeing an increase in unintended orders and trying to stop-loss by manipulating the system.
The threads are not random - they occur when a vendor has been caught changing the rules without giving any notice. Most sports fans don't like to see rigged ball games. That is unless they are in on the fix!
So keep the game fair or risk the sports fans rioting.
I note for the record that the last time you started such a thread, it was to sound a premature alarm about something (a points.com transfer) that wasn't actually a problem.

seems to me taht a Player was doing something they shouldnt have and the ref saw it and didnt call a Foul on him, so then all 6 of his team mates do it as well and the ref calls them on it. Those 6 cant say hey thats not fair why are you calling a Foul on us while you didnt when the other 2 did it
It seems for 1-800 in order to get the Miles you needed to have both your DM# and a promo code, and w/o both a person never should have gotten any miles (Hit) So it slipped by and when 1-800 learnt about it they were nice and left those who slipped by with their miles BUT stopped anyone else from getting any. Would you prefer that 1-800 contact DM and have them pull any and all Miles from those that got them when they shouldnt have
You werent the only who gambled and lost yet it does seem you are the only 1 yelling 1-800 had no Right to make sure that the Miles (Hit) are given only when done properly with a both a Promo Code and DM#

Activity Date has been reported for Netflix dates to be your signup/registration date. If this is consistent, Netflix should be a safe hit to undertake through next week. Just remember that if you do it, you have to maintain it until May of next year or risk forfeiture of all GS promo miles.

I am traveling in Japan, and lots of the little Konbini (Convenience) Stores have a small import or gourmet section, and many have (unbroken!) Anna's Cookies in several flavors.
I've never seen them at the konbinis where I live and I've lived here for 8 years.

No - you assume all Grand Slam players are reading Flyertalk. They most certainly are not. Flyertalk is not an official site of US Airways or Grand Slam or any of the vendors. Grand Slam is advertised on the US Airways website and offers are advertised from that website though pages and links.
There is nothing personal about fraud, misleading or deceiving consumers. There is nothing personal about a company failing to consider the consequences of its actions when setting up or participating in a promotion. We are talking business practices here. Focus on that. Go back and look at the factual evidence. Did the vendor ever indicate that miles would not be awarded for the purchase? Was the customer enticed to do business on the reasonable premise that miles would be awarded.
A jury? :eek::confused:
The red lettered warning about promotion codes has been discussed extensively. If you want to warn those who are newly attempting GS great. Claiming that somehow this is rigged against you indicates that this is indeed a personal vendetta.
Channeling Leslie Nielson: There's nothing to see here.
AlohaDaveKennedy
Nov 2, 11, 9:56 am
Actually, I prefer that the game be played by the rules. If a vendor says you will not get miles for placing this order then you have no reasonable expection to get miles. But that was not what this vendor did. It is not a reasonable assumption that a customer would know that a promotion code is needed to get miles. Was such a code needed with any other vendors? How about Office Max, Biscoff, etc.?
The truth of the matter is that the consumer was enticed to do business by an incentive and the vendor had no intention to provide the incentive or to tell the customer there was no incentive.
Nice try defending the company, but lets get an opinion from real lawyers. That is not my particular field, although I work beside them.
As for our ball team - the players are real and each can file a complaint.
Would you prefer that 1-800 contact DM and have them pull any and all Miles from those that got them when they shouldnt have

+1 on that , I never thought 1-800 was out to get us, it was always simple in order to get the miles you needed a Promo code which by the way Automatically was there if a person linked to 1-800 from the DM site, and if anything a person had to go out of their way in order to DELETE that code in order for the order to go thru with ones DM# also loaded. So if thats how ADK did it they are to Blame 100% for trying to screw 1-800 and not the other way around
if a person got to 1-800 any other way well the samething applys since 1-800 partners with many different companys w/o a promo-code how are they to know with whom a person wants to have their credit foir their purchase go to
ADK sorry but you gambled and lost no different then most everyone else, if anyones to Blame its You for knowingly deleteing the Promo-code and hoping to score like 1 or 2 people were able to, it didnt work stop being a cry-baby, unless you can prove that when you purchased the item in Fact the Promo-code was indeed still there and not Deleted, which I find very doubtful since it was reported countless time sthat with the PC in there it wouldnt take the Order

How do you even see or change FFP in the Vinesse profile? I don't see it in my account and when I called CS several times, they were unable to see or change anything about the mileage number! So, when you try to make a new account with Vinesse they are pretty good at finding your old account and overwriting your FFN. This has been a problem for a number of people on this forum, but it could be the solution to your problem. Simply make a purchase and instead of logging in you enter new information into their form. That will overwrite any existing information in your old account.
And before you do this, please take note of your account number. It will show up at some point when you make the purchase (even though you didn't log in).

Im actually taking this hit because I enjoy reading it, but just an FYI, when you go to the site thru US Airways, it is saying invalid US Airways number. So I called and signed up over the phone, but you have to tell the rep the specific promotion and make sure you give them your number and ask for the receipt.
It says miles may not post for 12 weeks. Is anyone else doing this one and have any reports on when your miles are showing up?

Since it appears that you can get a hit for buying something non-subscription related form Vinesse... is there any reason that no one appears to be buying actual wine? The shipping cost of vine bottles is prohibitive. So unless you are planning to spend big money on the vine the hit becomes rather expensive.

Hey Craz:
With 1-800 our team had multiple transactions for at least 3 different products. Our total transactions exceeded those required for Grand Slam. What this means is that Grand Slam brought in real business, beyond one-off business just out for the "hits." I give them credit for some good merchandise, all of which was donated to a good cause.
Never said 1-800 was out to get you - you said that. All of us can only speculate, just as you have speculated how our transactions occurred.
Now please explain how to "screw" a vendor by deleting codes. How would removing a promotion code (i.e. a discount or a sale code) "screw" a vendor. Every vendor I deal with asks for a promo code to get a discount - no code, no discount.
Sorry to put you on the spot, Craz but you publically accussed a Flyertalk member of trying to cheat a vendor by removing a promotion code.
Explain yourself or retract your accusation.
[Sorry guys, you will have to go back a page or so for Craz's post.]

I already accidentally did most of this when fiddling around their website, trying to magically make a profile page with FF number to appear :-) Since I tried to abandon the old account and create a new one, but it "found" and used my old account which I did not notice until after order submission. I gave up on Vinesse however the miles show up in US DM account recently. I thought the CS rep must have entered US DM number instead of deleting the account. Your explanation clears things up. Thanks.
A side effect of this "automagic nonsense" (detecting and using existing account without notice), was that my spouse's email id logs into my account, however the account profile shows my email correctly. My own email used as login returns an error. I changed the password on my account to be different than my spouse's account, now I'm able to login into both accounts with the exact same login (spouse's email)!!! and different passwords. The login id that works doesn't show up anywhere in my profile.

YMMV because SuperShuttle is quite locally dependent, but I use them quite a lot and I suspect they would not care. Most locations only want the reservation number. If they said anything, she could say you booked it for her. Really don't think they would care especially if she had the reservation printout.

After much research, I found the answer here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yg2u_De8j5o).
Just wait until after Monday. (Why can't anyone read the first post? Not referring to you tommyleo!) Just like others, in 2010 mine posted first Monday of the 2nd month following the purchase last year. So I give it until the 7th before I consider what I have to do to make up for that potential foul.
I'm at 31 today. Network Solutions is the only hit made prior to today that hasn't posted. (I did two hits today - Club Carlson & Priority Club xfers).
Hit #32 will be sharing miles but I'm holding out until the 14th on the exceedingly unlikely chance there will be a share miles promo by then.
Now I'm debating the last 4 and whether I really need to spend any amount of money or another 20K right now.

So what is the final consensus from the experts? Is the 21st century hit good? It looks like it counts as legit for me in my official US Air scorecard. So do I need a safety hit if this bombs? I am targeting 36 hits, so it would be sad to lose 20K miles over getting greedy on the 21st century freebie.

I paid $27 to ship a decent bottle of Pinot Grigio to PA, more than I would have paid at the liquor store but better than $15 for a stupid apron, at least in my opinion. And I do not think it is "cost prohibitive". Of course YMMV

Netsol - it looks like the 70% off $26 3-yr domain deal has a foul ball risk as the T&C say that coupons make it invalid. Is the 2 yr email safer - it is about $38 but I am willing to pay more for a guaranteed hit.
E-mail is 100%. Domain should be ok too, as last year and per e-mail conf. However its not supposed to earn miles, which a CS clearly told me when trying to order by phone. Needed to try that after getting CC errors etc.

Not worth the risk. Done it as a pure insurance on all accts.

surely the worry is whether the coupon allows miles or not?
safety hit needed?

The coupon does carry a risk especially when people decide to call in. But why don't you just wait untill Tuesday where this forum will be full of reports regarding netsol. Then you can examine the fresh evidence and make a decision. And if you don't like the risk then take the email without the coupon. You will not get the hit until January, but Network Solutions have been a solid partner in the past, so you will get the hit.

stupid question regarding teleflora, but i have a doubt (of course right after i made the purchase lol). Anyhow, on the gs rule page it states : "Teleflora (on eligible orders over $29.99)". My bouquet was 29,99 usd + shipping cost, and also mentioned i would be earning 750 miles. I still do get a hit right?
Call them. I did and my miles posted the very next day (!!), so at least you'll know. I imagine you'll be fine anyway, though.

No US Air sweep this week? Haven't seen the sweep miles though there has been at least 8 hits since the last sweep.

They are supposed to happen every two weeks. We were spoiled because the first few, three maybe, were weekly, I think now they are on the every other week schedule.

So are the sweeps going to occur on Tuesdays as they did the last time or Wednesdays as the T&C's indicate? Or Thursdays as some have reported? Or are they going to occur on the 29th of February every other leap year?

There actually is a chance a sweep will occur on Feb 29, 2012. :D

When did that over $29.99 requirement get added to the rules for Teleflora? Really annoying when rules are arbitrarily changed mid-promo. Debating whether I need to rapidly order something over $30 now. Not clear whether $29.99 will count or if it most be $30.00 or more. And the last scorecard email on 10/24 didn't include this because it hadn't posted by then. Dammit.

Technically 29.99 is not over 29.99, so whats the deal now!?!

It would appear it was added after 29 Oct 12pm (last Saturday) and before 4pm on 02 Nov (this Wednesday) (times/dates are US/Phoenix - GMT-7).
What that means, if anything, is beyond me...

I purchased items (29.99 each) for two accounts early in the week so if they are going to say that they don't count, I guess my argument will be that when I purchased the items, this rule didn't exists and secondly, when you include delivery charges the "order" is then over the 29.99 threshold (perhaps this rule was put in to eliminate the possibility of using a free delivery coupon or some other type of discount???). Note that the activity date is the delivery date so theoretically, you could have placed the order at the beginning of the Grand Slam for delivery after today.
Knowing the way the promotion has been run and the lack of clarity for many of the rules and regs, I am cautiously optimistic that the 29.99 order will count as hits without further hassle. I also have to wonder whether the US IT people would even have the knowledge to go in and program things so that new $29.99 orders wouldn't count but older ones would.

My apologies if the thread is wrong. Data point re: Century 21 Insurance (not at all sure if this will turn into a hit):
10/26/2011 11/03/11 SHOPPING MALL, 21ST CENTURY INSURANCE 254
Submitted the quote request on 10/25/2011.
That's strange that Shopping Mall shows in the description if this is for the quote. Others have reported the description as just "21ST CENTURY INSURANCE".

As am I. And yes, if they really wanted to, US IT could easily filter out "grandfathered" versus non-qualifying Teleflora orders. But I'd like to think they have better things to be spending their time and resources on.

It's not strange - this won't count as a 21st century hit - even if the quote-only route is otherwise counting, as this was done with (I'm assuming) the Dividend Miles Toolbar installed, which is why the mileage bonus shows as coming from 21st Century via the Dividend Miles Shopping Mall.

Perhaps - but knowing who we're dealing with here I'd put the odds at 50/50 that the "fix" would result in something like all previous hits being canceled, etc...

There are promocodes to reduce Teleflora price, and maybe this is just the way to prevent that from counting. Could have been done with Netsol as well. Probably GS12 then:D

The basic earning amount for Teleflora is 15 miles per dollar. For a $30.00 order, that is 450 miles. Unless Teleflora is giving US Airways the exact order amount, I would think that the programming would count anything for 450 points and over. Of course, I could be very wrong.
I am also very happy that I decided to spend an additional $5 on my Mother's birthday flowers!

As of the last sweep/scorecard I had 33 posted and accounted for including a Teleflora 750 mile hit which cost $29.99 plus delivery. All posted hits counted, no foul balls.
