Just rented a Mustang Conv. at LAX at Cartrawler.com for Oct. The reservation terms state that an add. driver is 10$/day - however for my last car rental (AVIS) add. driver was free in California. Does Dollar have the same policy?
The add. driver will be my wife. I know AVIS allows a spouse to be added witout costs. Same Dollar policy?
Thx

Some Dollar locations do charge for all drivers, including spouses.
However, the T&C at Dollar.com for a test booking at LAX show the following:
Additional Authorized Drivers: Additional drivers must qualify with a valid driver's license in their own name. There is no charge for additional drivers age 25 and older.
ETA: I found this verbiage on an Alamo reservation in Fairbanks, Alaska, of all places (probably standard boilerplate Alamo verbiage for all locations:
NOTE - STATE LAW IN CALIFORNIA, ILLINOIS,
MISSOURI, . NEVADA, OREGON, AND WISCONSIN ALLOW THE
SPOUSE . TO BE AN AUTOMATIC AUTHORIZED DRIVER AS LONG
. AS RENTER QUALIFICATIONS ARE MET
So it sounds like even without that Dollar policy I quoted above, your spouse would be automatically included per state law.
On the other hand, outside of those named states, Alamo's policy is reported to be this:
** ADDITIONAL DRIVER FEE **
. ANY ADDITIONAL DRIVER *INCLUDING A SPOUSE OR DOMESTIC
PARTNER* WILL PAY A DAILY FEE APPROXIMATELY 10.00 USD PER
DAY UNLESS THE PRIMARY RENTER IS A MEMBER OF ALAMO INSIDERS
OR HAS A CORPORATE AGREEMENT.
