Travel with Children - Best ways to watch movies-tech fans stop here!

I'm getting a bit fed up with dragging the DVD player around and was wondering, what devices are the best for playing movies?

Our flights are long so battery times are an issue.

We have an iPhone, a MacBook Air and some DSi's (not the big ones or the 3D's).

Anything else that would be good for this?

You can't beat an iPad 2 for being lightweight and having fantastic picture quality. You can rip your own dvds to iTunes and transfer to your iPad, or buy/rent movies. There are free programs to rip dvds, but I prefer WinX DVD Ripper Platinum. Add an external battery charger (can be pricey, but worth it for long flights without access to outlets), put on some games, add a headphone splitter so two can watch at once, and you have a great little entertainment system.
