GLBT Travelers - Weekend in Italy..Florence or Rome? Tips and Tricks?

We are a couple of 40 something guys going to Italy for a quick week of good eating, good culture and good wine!

We can either spend the weekend in Rome or Florence.

What are the good gay places to grab a drink and meet gay locals and and expats?

Which city has more gay nightlife? Rome or Florence?

Any suggestions on current gayer neighborhoods, restaurants, and bars would be greatly appreciated!

We are also huge foodies, so good restaurant suggestions are welcome!

I was in Rome and had the idea that there will be a village of sorts but there is no such thing. I went to the same bar everynight cannot remember the name. Have fun, Italy is a beautiful country and lots of good food.

Eeven though the threads are old so is Rome, I don't think there have been many changes. I had fun at that bar every night i was there. Been to Florence but did not experience the night life.

Rome is a beautiful city and it also depends as to what you are looking for in the night scene. As I mentioned there is no village.
