Other European Frequent Flyer Programs - Connection through JFK on airberlin, customs?

Hey y'all. I'm scheduled to depart from DUS on airberlin at 1:30pm, and arrive in JFK at 3:50pm. At 6:15pm, I'm supposed to be on a flight to SAT on Delta. Please reassure me this is enough time to snag that connection if I have to check 1 bag. I've never been through JFK, but I'm a US citizen so I'm guessing that customs line will be shorter?

Thanks!

Welcome to FT!
I'd say you're asking for trouble.
Air Berlin arrives into T8. Delta leaves from T3.
Assuming you're on separate PNRs, that means you need to clear immigration and customs and reclaim your bag.
Then take the inter-terminal train to T3 and check-in with Delta.
I'd also suggest asking the Moderators to move your question to the New York City forum -- that way you will get more frequent JFK travellers.

I have cleared a 60-minute connection from T4-T2 at JFK before, and it was an Aer Lingus international arrival. Admittedly immigration was cleared before departure, but there were no issues (I just had to haul my butt over to T2 nice and fast. I think you will be fine.

As your itinerary isn't on one PNR (I know this because the MCT from T8 int to any DL domestic is 150 minutes, 5 more than your time), you are pretty SOL if your AB flight is delayed and causes you to misconnect, though.

Note to UAPremExecFlyer: rockxaction would need to collect and redeposit his/her bag even if it were on one PNR, due to US Customs rules.
