Travel Photography - Any experience with the Vanguard Up-Rise 38?

Hi there,

for my travel with a small DSLR and two lenses + laptop, books, shirts, etc. I'm looking for a briefcase that

a) Is as big as it can be within briefcase measurements
b) Holds laptop and camera gear well
c) Looks nice (yep I know, I know...) and can be converted to "non travel" but simple "carry daily" equipment once at the place of my destination
d) Does not scream "expensive gear inside"

I know that I will never find the perfect bag. But what do you think of the Vanguard Up-Rise 38? (e.g. here: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/707161-REG/Vanguard_UP_RISE_38_UP_Rise_38_Messenger_Bag.html)

Anyone ever bought this one?

Thanks for your help!
Sebastian

PS: Hope this is not OT here, apologies if I should have posted in Travel Gear...

Sebastian,

There's a nice leather camera bag Ive been looking at, cant seem to find a link for it but ill post it when I find it. Its a bit pricy at $300 but I thought it looked great

Found it:

Not sure if its out of your price range:

But this one has a laptop compartment.

This is the leather one I was talking about.

It says for women, but it looks unisex to me, the men's versions have a more rugged look and are a bit cheaper.

Personally, I just use domke wraps (can find one amazon and bh) for my camera and lenses and put them in a normal backpack.

Good luck on your search

Thanks for the posts, the bag looks not too bad at all! However, for many reasons I prefer a non-leather product right now.

Anyone else any experience with that particular bag? Or any other messenger style Laptop & Camera bag (non-leather)?

Many thanks!
