Hello,

Moved to ABQ in March & have not had great luck finding a good chinese food place (don't like Pei Wei or PF Changs, btw).

I've tried several different hole-in-the-wall type places, but my biggest peeve w/all of them is that their fried rice doesn't appear to actually be fried-seems to be more like boiled w/soy sauce poured over it.

I'm originally from the Boston area, if that gives you an idea of the kind of cooking style I'm used to-does anyone know of a place in ABQ that is similar?

Thanks in advance!

I ate here a few years back when I was in Albquerque. It used to be part of Restaurant Rewards but I don't think it is anymore:

It's downtown I believe. Hope this helps!

Which ones have you tried?

I think Cantonese cuisine is most prevalent in Boston than others styles of Chinese food. Ming Dynasty (at Eubank and Constitution) and ABC Chinese (near Menual and Moon) are both Cantonese style.

For Taiwanese fare, I liked Budai (at Academy and San Mateo), China Luck (at Paseo and San Pedro) and Chopstix (at Lomas and San Pedro).

All these restaurants have Chinese-only menu that have more authentic dishes than what is in their standard menu.

My Chinese restaurant in North America rule:

Ask for a Chinese only menu (easy for me, I can read it and look the part)
OR
Look for a lineup of Chinese outside.
