I received a survey from Citi on Friday concerning my HH Citi Visa.

Sounds like Citi is considering an enhanced HH visa like the HH Surpass Am Ex.

I was given a bunch of scenarios with various enhanced benefits and different annual fees asking how likely I would be to upgrade my current citi HH visa to the new one. and if I said I would select the new card it asked if it would be my primary credit card or secondary credit card.

The annual fee was anywhere from $75 to $225. IIRC all the scenarios involved no foreign transaction fees and gave you gold status. Some of the scenarios allowed you to get diamond status with $50K a year in spend (which may be easier to do than the $40K spend on the Surpass if the card holder deals with a lot of merchants that don't accept am ex or does a lot of foreign travel). I believe all the scenarios also give the 3 pts/$ on everyday purchases, 9pts/$ at hilton and 6pts/$ at the same merchants the Am Ex HH card does.

With some of the higher annual fee scenarios a benefit that was included was a free night at ANY HH property. One of the scenarios was a yearly benefit and the other one was a sign up bonus.

Will be interesting to see when/if they come out with this product. Depending on the benefits and annual fee, I would seriously consider cancelling my Surpass and getting this card instead. I like the rental car protection Am Ex provides but I can always use my Delta Am Ex for rental cars, but more merchants accept visa than Am Ex and it would be great having a rewards card that doesn't charge a foreign transaction fee

Interesting. I like the current HHonors Visa... it's good value. I would certainly look at an upgrade, but at $200+ a year the card had better do something astounding that it doesn't now. A free night isn't that big a deal. I'm sort of opposed in principle to a million more instant Golds on the street -- there's too many already. (Ironically if I had that card benefit it would probably result in less Hilton stays by me.) I'd probably pay $75 to earn points at a greater rate though.

Always good to have competition. There aren't a lot of reward programs having cards from different banks. If Citi match or exceed Surpass's offering, naturally have to give ever more perk to compensate for their lower acceptance. I am hoping for a perk-war between Citi and AMEX. At the end, consumers are the winner :)

And before you know it....rumor has it that AMEX is doing something with their HH card (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hilton-hhonors/1257350-starts-oct-1-11-receive-instant-25-000-30-000-bonus-points-your-hhonors-amex.html)...
