Under the Reward Redemption History section online I noticed the following:
VIP Confirmed Upgrade Certificate/Reward Code: VUG/0 Points.

I did use a GLON award at the Vancouver Metrotown around the date the certificate was issued and can only think that this certificate was applied to that stay. I was upgraded there.

The Diamond Desk booked the GLON award however they did not mention the VUG certificate to me nor did I ever have one in my possession.

I have used several awards this year and it has not appeared against them. Is this usual? Anyone come across this before?

I recently noticed this on my redemption history as well. No clue...

After accumulating several hundreds of thousands of points in HHonors, I finally got an award in Tokyo for this weekend. I check my account today and I was deducted the appropriate amounts.

Before this, everytime I clicked on look at reward redemption history it said I have never redeemed anything.

Now it lists the one stay for this weekend plus 3 entries in 2000 for VIP Confirmed Upgrade Certificate with three different dates about a month apart in the 3rd QTR.

Does anyone know what these are? I do not remember ever getting anything and I deffinately never used any. In fact I don't even think I hit Diamond until the very end of 2000 - after these certs were apparently issued.

Are these still out there? No points were deducted for these.

I have had this appear in my account also. I posted a question in November to ask if anyone could explain however no one seemed able to do so.

Sorry, no help here, but I have also had one of these "redeemed" from my account, for zero points.

Adam?

I can't remember where I think I saw these certificates as a benefit, but I think it had something to do with every so many stays between Blue and Silver and Gold, you got some certificates for free upgrades. Maybe that's what they were. Of course last year I went from Blue to Diamond and never got any.

I believe you get some confirmed ( to Towers or Executive floor) upgrade certs depending on the number of stays per QTR. The certs are usually valid for about a year and used to be printed as part of your HH monthly statement.
The upgrade if I remember correct was valid for use only with a "standard or business rates" and in my opinion pretty useless.
In over 18 years of being a HH member never used once.

You were able to purchase these certs in a book of 5, or had them sent to you as a vip ocaisonally with your statement. They were discontinued over a year ago - as available upgrades are just a perk for everyone now.

However, I did find these useful once in a while (staying on a business rate) in Japan, where they might not be as familiar with Gold benefits (or before I was Gold), but it was much easier to upgrade with the coupon in hand.

I remember getting the certificates as part of my monthly statements when I was Silver (several years ago - I have been Diamond for the past few years). What enticed me about the ones i saw in my online account was the possiblity of a confirmed upgrade prior to arrival; I would love a CONFIRMED upgrade on my Honeymoon trip to Hilton Waikoloa Village (using an ALON reward). I'm hopeful and confident that I will get an upgrade when I arrive, but it would be nice to confirm.
