Don't think there's a travel video forum on FT, or is there?

But, since the advent of great video quality thorough your mobile and still camera''s, wondering if anyone's taking video through their cameras.

I rarely see anyone whip out their "video cameras" anymore.

Personally, I try to get a few shots through my DSLR when Im out and about and I started getting into get into stop motion recently, just upload one on the Rialto on Youtube, if you like to check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rLiA8PxTYQ

Cheers!

This is quite subjective. Some high-end cameras offer acceptable video quality. I have yet to see a mobile phone offer anything remotely acceptable. To me, neither offer "great" quality video.

Yes, it definitely is.

I would have to respectfully disagree with you the video quality of higher end DSLRs unless your talking about video for feature films as many shows on tv have been filmed with a Canon 5D or other high end DSLR.

I was referring to great quality on your DSLR/Camera compared to just a few years ago

Cheers!

I agree it has improved significantly over a few years ago. I still think it isn't "great" quality video.

My frame of reference is viewing the video on a large 1080p tv screen, which is what most people who own tech gadgets would have. Since most (if not all) higher end DSLRs don't record video at 1080p, it would depend on how good the upscaling is. Viewed natively, I consider it "acceptable".

Hey Brain,

Not sure if you've looked recently but 1080p has been around for a few years in the 5D and 7D and recently in the their entry level t1i.

Cheers!

Nope, haven't looked recently as I've only been looking at the high end prosumer videocams. Even the majority of those don't meet my expectations for "great" quality.

However, good to know. And, if the DSLR meets your needs, more power to you.

+1 1080p is pretty much standard now on Canon DSLR bodies

I really need to consider something like the Hague Mini Motion Cam (http://www.b-hague.co.uk/hague_mini_motion_cam_steadicam_type_camcorder_sta bilizer.htm). Here (http://s140.photobucket.com/albums/r33/kevonionia/crags%20video/?action=view&current=MMCmute_0001.mp4) is a video of it in use (towards the end, he shows with and without it on).

As others have said 1080 is standard on the 7 and 5D.

Lots of comercial stuff is now filmed on the 5D. The TV program house does a lot on the 5D. In fact the quality is so dam goos it has got a lot of pro video people in a tizz.
