Hilton HHonors - Stay credit - can I get it in this situation?

I am going to Indianapolis between Christmas and New Year's for a conference. I will likely be staying at the Hampton Inn that is a few blocks from the convention center. The question arises because the cost of the hotel is included in the price of the conference, and I won't be paying the hotel directly, I'll be paying the organization that is hosting the conference. I know I won't get HHonors points for this situation, but can I show my card at the desk and get credit for the 5 night stay? From what I've read on other threads, I'm about 95% sure that I should be able to get stay credit for this, but I just want to double check.

You should if you have a folio. I assume you'll have to swipe a card for incidentals. I did this for a meeting and got credit. Also, charge something to your room and you should get points and miles for the stay.

Without rocking the boat too much, I have always found it advantageous to charge items to my room in this situation. You are certainly entitled to points on your incidentals. Further, if you have status, you certainly want the hotel to know that by adding your HHonors number to the reservation, preferably before arrival.
