The upgraded rooms are just OK. The concierge lounge is just OK. One good thing, though, is that they provide a courtesy shuttle to the airport, and to the nearby malls. They've got a sports bar that's usually pretty lively in the evenings. The location on Loop 410 makes it easy to get places fast. Complimentary parking is offered, and that's getting harder to find anywhere. Overall grade: just OK. I've stayed there a few times and it's pretty good. They have recently remodeled and have a very nice executive level. You'll probably have to ask for the upgrade, but won't have a problem in receiving it. My experience is that on the weekends especially, rates at a Doubletree don't run anymore than a regular Hilton. TheRoadIsLife Mar 14, 09, 7:06 am And can I get around the $10 self parking fee? Hgh3 Mar 19, 09, 11:31 pm It's NOT good. Definitely a tired property, and I've not had any luck in avoiding the ridiculous parking fee (no other hotel in the airport area charges one). As always-- YMMV. theblakefish Mar 20, 09, 10:59 am The DT is much better.... jerry a. laska Mar 20, 09, 11:27 am At times I have been able to get a low enough rate, that even with the parking fee, the total was lower than the alternatives. The sports bar does get quite busy especially during the NBA playoffs. une Mar 20, 09, 12:20 pm I was looking at either the Hilton or the DoubleTree for a weekend stay in the beginning of April. DT has an Advance Pay Rate of $77/night, which is less than the Hilton and parking is free. |
