Hilton HHonors - Good service from HH rewards

I had never redeemed any of my points for hotel awards. Actually, up until now, I've used HH rewards.

Monday, I called to reserve a room at the Conrad Hong Kong for February. I expected to get the runaround, since February is the month of Chinese New Year.

To my complete surprise, everything went very smoothly. No problem with the award useage. In fact, the HH person put me in touch with another department so I could use less points for the same award.

I know Hilton people read this... so I wanted to thank them for great service.

I would guess that's referring to a Point Stretcher award ...

It must have been a Point Stretcher Award... though they never identified it as such. The standard award for a Premium Hotel is SP8 for 195,000 points. The HH person who checked the availability said she must use this award code. However, she immediately transfered me to another department. The person here changed the award code and only charged me 150,000 points.

Again, please let me emphasize, I've never redeemed points from Hilton. If this were a United Mileage Plus redemption, I would understand the process better.

But the service I was provided by HH was so efficient and helpful, I wanted to give recognition to this to people who understand how important customer service is in travel: road warriors, like myself.

I think you are using a VIP award. GLONP (150,000)- 6 nights at a premium vs the per night premium SP8 which is 195,000.

Usually 4 nights or more consider using a VIP award.
