Is the only way to transfer Priority Club points to DM to call or am I missing some online form?
Thanks
I believe so. I am a platinum member and still I had to call and cash in 10K PC pts for 2K US DM. These already posted to my US DM account. I did the transaction last Thursday.

I have 20k Marriott rewaurds points. Is ther anything i can do with these that is cooler than just getting a hit for turning them into 5k US DM?
I could transfer 10k and still ahve 10k to do something else with. Is there anything I can do with points.com? I still need all my hits from there.
Thanks!
Well, if that's a generic question, yes - 20k MR is good for two nights in a Category 2 hotel or one night in a Category 4.
Your ability to find Cat 2's and 4's that represent great value for points will vary widely by destination. I usually do quite well on my MR redemptions, but I'm always either doing a 5th Night Free or a Travel Package, both of which require a lot of points to redeem.
Personally I would not convert MR to US Airways unless it was my last resort for my 36th hit or something.

Had to do the same thing last year. Quick and painless though. I haven't done the transfer this year since that's equivalent to $60. I'll use it if I need it near the end.

I don't see it that way. It's $60 worth of points minus the value of the 2K miles collected.
At 1 cpm, that's $60 - $20 = $40 cost.
At 1.75 cpm, that's $60 - $35 = $25 cost.

My 9/14 choice transfer posted today.
Same here, but I hope the coding is correct this year. It shows: 9/14/2011 09/20/11 CHOICE PRIVILEGES MILEAGE AWARDS.
Last year, Choice or US Airways messed up, posting the Choice transfer as a "stay" instead of transfer, at no fault of our own. US straightened it out manually. Shouldn't it be coded "Conversion: Choice Privileges" or something like that, for a transfer?
Anyone remember this happening last time?

Great. That means thousands of GSers out there (we're included) will have to ask US Airways to fix it manually to pick up the transfer hit, because US Airways has no other way of knowing it's a transfer, not a stay, since Choice sends both as a stay.

It also depends on whether you'd otherwise use PC points, when you'd use them, and what value you'd get in the form of hotel stays.
For me, 10,000 PC is worth about $90 at the moment I redeem them. So this one is an expensive hit for me.
But you never find yourself with a need for PC points, I'd probably just use the acquisition cost of $60 and call it a $25-ish hit like you've suggested. That's how I'll value LQ and/or Carlson if I acquire those. Regardless of where the greatest hotel-stay value is in those programs, I won't really pursue it with the points so I'll just count whatever I paid to get the points to begin with, minus the value of the US Airways miles that post.

This question has been giving me a headache since the beginning of the promo. Do I or don't I count the value of the US miles against the cost of the transfer. I posted about it in the "value of miles" thread.
I have chosen the more conservative method, "don't." The reason is that if I count the miles against the cost, I am essentially double-counting them, since I am also counting them in the denominator when I do my final cents/mile. In other words, I see the miles more on the "revenue" side of the equation.
I'm looking for a good reason not to follow the above methodology, since it would dramatically lower my cents per mile at the end. But I haven't found one yet.

If you only look at them as part of the final grand totals, then you can't judge the cost/value of each hit individually. If you don't judge each hit individually, then you aren't making a fair comparison to choose one hit vs another or even whether to skip some hits altogether and forgo the maximum GS11 bonus.
For a PC transfer, my cost is $60 and I earn 2K miles. But $60 is the total cost of the transfer -- not the cost of the hit itself. For me, there are two cost components to that transfer:
1. The cost of the 2K non-bonus miles.
2. The cost of the hit toward bonus miles.
In order to compare one hit method to another, I need to compare the second (hit) component of each method. To calculate that, I determine my value of the 2K non-bonus miles ($35) and subtract it from my total value of the points that I'm spending ($60). The hit itself costs me $25.
In the spreadsheet, I can log this one of two ways:
1. Enter my calculated cost for the hit ($25) and 0 for my miles.
2. Enter the total cost of the transaction ($60) and 2K for my miles.
The first method means that the non-bonus miles don't get added into the grand totals, but I really don't care about that. I bought those 2K miles outright (from myself) at what I consider fair market value. They simply don't figure into the GS totals at all. All I care about in the chart on the right side of the spreadsheet is whether the most expensive hits are worth their hit cost.
For other transactions, we may think of these as also having other separate cost components:
1. The cost of the non-bonus miles.
2. The cost of the hit toward bonus miles.
3. The cost/value of the product that I'm buying.
What is the hit cost of a DM Dining dine if you would have dined at that restaurant anyway?
What is the hit cost of a SkyMall purchase if you buy a 9v battery that you intend to use?
What is the hit cost of a SkyMall purchase if you buy a 9v battery that you don't intend to use?
What is the hit cost of an Audience Rewards ticket that you purchase and then resell on StubHub for more than you paid?
What is the hit cost of a $200/nt Hyatt stay in which you earn US miles rather than earning Hyatt points as you normally would? Would it be better to book a separate stay at a Rodeway Inn for $40 so that you can still earn your points at Hyatt?
If there's a better thread for this discussion, I'd be happy to have it moved over there so as not to clutter up this thread. There are some enhancements that we could make to the spreadsheet to better reflect the hit costs rather than total costs.

From Choice Privileges program T&Cs: "Guest name must match frequent flyer membership name to earn Airline Rewards."
From the Club Carlson transfer page: "the last name on a Frequent Flyer account MUST be the same as the name on your Rewards account or your miles will not be awarded."
I believe that it's been reported quite definitively that it will not work for PC.

I would go with "don't".
- on day 1 John had $60 in cash and no miles;
- on day 2 John spent all his cash to purchase hotel points, which he then exchanged for 2000 new miles;
- on day X USAir will award his hit for the transfer along with 5000 bonus Grand Slam miles.
At the end John will have zero cash and 7000 US Air miles.
The cost = $60
The "revenue" = 7,000 miles

Right, but that $60 bought more than 7,000 miles; it bought the ability of other/cheaper hits to be hits and earn miles in GS. The $60 should be averaged with the cost of other hits, right?

Choice: Minimum transfer size for anyone (non-elite or elite) is 5,000 Choice points to 1,000 dividend miles. Normal cost to buy points is $11 for 1,000 points. Through Aug 31, $11 will get you 1,100 points. It's possible for some to transfer e-rewards to Choice once per quarter for $100=>4,000 points, $60=>2,200 points, or $30=>1,000 points. E-rewards transfer happened instantly for me. Purchasing points might take 24 hours. There's also the possibility of buying a game from Big Fish Games for something like $5 for 1,500 points. At least one transfer to a different person's DM account was taken back last year. Choice forum (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/choice-privileges-640/)

Do you have pop-ups enabled on your browser? My Hilton transfer included one. That could be it.
I actually got the pop-ups to open, but they just kept taking me back to the log-in screen.
To make matters worse, when I called, the HH customer service rep was adamant that you can't transfer points to your US Air miles account directly -- she claimed that they send me a certificate good for 850 miles "that I can use to help pay for my next US Air ticket." ...?!?
Luckily, her supervisor was NOT as uninformed and apologized for the customer service rep's complete lack of knowledge.
Once I got someone competent, I actually decided to wait on the transfer. I'm now thinking that 10,000 HH pts to 850 miles is something I need to do only to get myself to the next "hit" level, so I'm gonna hold this one back to make sure I don't use it and still end up 2 hits shy of a bonus level.
I don't travel much, so not many car rentals or hotel rooms, and the local car rental rates (I'm by LAX) rule out the cheap "$15 one day rentals" that others are piling up, as well as the $30 rooms (cheapest out here are all over $50 + taxes). I'll jump on the HH transfer to get to 32 or 36 hits (maybe to 28), but I need to step back and see where I stand first.

Not to conduct trade here but just wonder, how do you call a fair trade between different hotel transfer program? Similar amount of US miles would be a key of cause, like 3200 miles from Wyndham, to exchange for 3000 miles from Hyatt. But one also has to consider some programs preserve its value better when transferring to miles, like SPG.
Thoughts?

A quick fix to that is to have one party change their address to match the other party's address. This can be completed online, and once the transfer has been processed, the address can simply be changed back in a matter of seconds.

thusly those who will need to do more then 1 transfer to get enough pts to transfer to DM make sure you do 1 B4 9/30 and then do the next 1 after 10/1, if you will need more then 1 cashout to get the needed pts in your acct

It all depends on what both parties value both the hotel points, and miles.
People are more willing to trade wyndham because the best value for Wyndham is generally transferring to miles.
Hyatt are valued relatively high among most members so they are less likely to want to give these up.
I would consider a fair trade to be 3200 miles from Wyn for 2000 miles from Hyatt since I value the Hyatt higher if not redeemed for miles.

I am not trying to solicit an exchange but if someone traded 2000 miles from Hyatt with me, I wouldn't give them more than 2000 miles back. I don't care if they came from Hyatt or La Quinta or from Wyndham or from dining. A US DM is a US DM. It's up to the person who owns the Hyatt points to decide to exchange or not. If they value the points for more than the 2000 miles then they should look elsewhere for a hit and keep their points.

That would hold true if we were not in the midst of the Grand Slam.
That changes the value for everyone depending on how many more hits they need. If you have already done all the cheap hits and need to make up the balance with hotel transfers, while you might be trading more miles for less miles you are also earning a hit that you would not otherwise have. A hit that may be worth another 5K miles.
I would personally trade 3200 miles from a Wyndham hit for 2000 from a Hyatt hit or Marriott hit because those are hits I do not have yet.
Also I would look at the trade as me giving up 3200 miles for 2000 miles +5000 miles from a late hit. If I could transfer Wyndham 9 times for 9 hits your theory would be true.
I love the GRAND SLAM!

As of yesterday, I had 4 confirmed hits. 3 Hotel transfers (SPG, HH, Marriott) and the points.com (EXCHANGE POINTS). When I didn't receive the first bonus for 4 hits, I called.
After 45 minutes on the phone, and then being dropped (cell phone), it seemed apparent that they were not counting the SPG posting as a "hit". They didn't even know what SPG was until I spelled it out - Starwood Preferred Guest. It was a 1500 point transfer. She said "you have 2 hotel hits - 1 for Marriott and 1 for Hilton". I said, what about the hit for SPG? She said "that's not counting".
Then she said I should email starwood to make sure the transaction qualifies?!!? I told her I don't need to call Starwood because their points posted to DM (and she verified she saw it).
Well, after a lot of hold time and transferring around the DMSC, she was in the middle of telling me that I have 5 hits (Trackitback posted today). When I pressed her on why I didn't get the 4 hit bonus, she started to answer me, but then my cell phone dropped the call. Grrrrrrrr...

I'm late to the transfer game, but this is my strategy so far:
5,000 HawaiianMiles -> 10,000 Hilton Points -> 850 DM - 1 Hit
5,000 Ultimate Rewards -> 5,000 Hyatt Points -> 2,000 DM - 1 Hit
1,500 SPG -> 1,500 DM - 1 Hit
5,000 Ultimate Rewards -> 5,000 Priority Club Points + $40 for 5,000 more -> 2,000 DM - 1 Hit
The Hawaiian miles doubling almost makes up for how painful it is to transfer from Hilton to DM. It's too bad my 10+ year old Hilton account was closed last year with heaps of points in it or I wouldn't need to transfer anything.

5,000 HawaiianMiles -> 10,000 Hilton Points -> 850 DM - 1 Hit
This sounds expensive, but you could argue that you will consolidate.
Auch, 5k UR is worth $50 in cash, so this is pretty expensive.
1,500 SPG -> 1,500 DM - 1 Hit
Looks fine.
5,000 Ultimate Rewards -> 5,000 Priority Club Points + $40 for 5,000 more -> 2,000 DM - 1 Hit
This is really expensive. 5k UR >= $50, whence a total of at least $90. You can ``purchase'' 10k Priority club points for $60 with a simple trick

Problem is I don't have 5,000 priority club points to start out with AFAIK you have to have at least 5,000 points for the trick to work.
I hadn't moved the UR to Priority Club yet, so I'll hold off on that and instead can purcahse LQ for $66 and Choice for $55 if it comes to that rather than loosing out on $90ish for the Priority club transfer. Because I cannot get any rental car hits (none of the companies have cars near me) I'm stuck with these much more expensive hits to get to 36.

As discussed recently in http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/2011-grand-slam-promotion/1258785-how-many-hits-so-far.html, note that US screwed up in crediting any hotel transfer that resulted in exactly 850 miles. (That would be Hilton, and any SPG transfer by a Platinum who went with the minimum required by US.) Based on comparisons by a few members, it appears that US wrote the sweep code to require 851 miles instead; that's clearly a mistake, since the 850-mile figure is plainly used because it's the conversion for 10,000 HH points.
I would expect US to fix this for everyone, but my guess is not until the next sweep in 2 weeks.

I'm not travelling for work right now and have in the past just had hotel rewards go directly to my airline account. But now, I'm looking for more hits for GS. I have a stockpile of US, AA, and AS miles and am willing to take losses in order to get more hits (if it's overall beneficial, of course).
Does anyone have any suggestions on the paths to getting hits from these mileage accounts with the least loss? Is offering miles/awards in return for transfers/conversions remotely a good idea (of course, to be done in the coupon connection forum)?
Thanks in advance!

Transfers to DM take about a week. Choice forum (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/choice-privileges-640/)

I'd rent the car. Cost $21; benefit is some small number of US miles, plus whatever you earn from the credit card used.
5000 UR points are worth 5000 CO/BA/KE miles, or between $50 and $100. (They're also worth 5000 Amtrak points, which can ideally be redeemed for more than 3c each on expensive NE corridor routes, although that program has issues & isn't for everyone in any event.) You'd get 2000 US miles -- value, say, $20 to $40 -- which means the effective cost here is $30 to $60.
Unless you've got some crazy enormous pile of UR points to burn and/or are hard up to lay out $21 in cash, save the UR points and spend the money.

In my opinion, you'll lose far more in value than you'll gain going from airline to hotel program to airline, if it's even possible (unless maybe you had 5,000 Hawaiian miles to transfer to Hilton then to US). If you're thinking about trading, then you never know what other people will go for until you post in Coupon Connection.

I look at 5,000 Hyatt points as worth at least a Hyatt Place -- so easily $80 to $100 or more dollars. (Without doing any complicated computations), so a $21 car rental is far more to my taste. For some, the $21 OOP is a budget buster. But, one wonders what they will do for food and lodging once they have the 100,000 mile trip(s) redeemed?

If you are renting car just for GS (not on biz/personal trip, etc), you have to calculate time value as well. I found a cheap Hertz rental for ~$17, excited, made reservation and headed to the Hertz office.
Turned out it's a small place and there was a line there (although I'm Hertz Gold, can't pick up car directly), waited about 10 minutes and line was moving very slowly (someone dealing with accident, etc), then decided that I can't waste more time on this. Thinking that I'll have to explain to the clerk that I don't really need the car, I can return the car immediately, blah, blah...
Unless I can phone in and do no-show car rental, seems quite some amount of work to get a "hit" and 2.5~5K US miles in return(~$20 cost).

That depends on what you are going to do if that time is available to you. I rented car from alamo and the rental policy is I need to hold on to the car for at least one hour for the rate ($15). With commute and all i end up spending at-least 2 - 3 hours total.

Can you transfer directly from your SPG account to US Air DM1, 2, 3 for family? I thought you need to create SPG accounts 1,2,3, first transfer your SPG points into the family SPG accounts, and then transfer into US Air DM. I gave up on this since all accounts have to be open 30 days, and I heard there are issues with address verification proof etc.
If we can transfer direct from my SPG account to all family members' DM account that would be great! Is that possible?

Priority Club: Minimum transfer size for anyone is 10,000 points to 2,000 miles and must be done by calling in. It's possible to buy 10,000 points for $60 or 5,000 points for $40 and they post pretty much immediately. Transfers to a different person's DM account won't work. Transfers to DM take about a week. Priority Club forum (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/intercontinental-hotels-priority-club-inter-continental-ambassador-426/)
I checked the Priority Club purchase page and prices are different it's $125 for 10k and $67.50 for 5k points. Am I missing something?

There's a little 'trick' to get the prices mentioned. Looking at the Priority Club sight would benefit you.

For those who need Choice points, an alternative to buying them is Choice is running a promo now that you earn 4 times the points for each stay. So if you are traveling a lot and can swing one or two nights at a Choice property you can earn the 5,000 points necessary for the transfer.
Just another option.

And to warn that if you have CC set up to miles, they will transfer automatically when you reach 10K= if you get 20k transferred as a trade and plan to further distibute to your family, it doesnt work as it will immediately transfer to US. Be aware!

Do we have an update of this issue, i.e. has someone contacted DM and aksed if they are able to see if it is a conversion or a stay?

Opened a Best Western reward account yesterday, called in purchase of 5000 points, they said they would call back. Received the call back about 90 minutes later, purchased over the phone ($50), points transferred immediately, and requested the transfer of 1000 miles to DM right away. Not a cheap hit at $50, but it's a hit nonetheless. Note: no status match to elite required.

If you elect to earn CP pts then you wont earn any Miles so you wont get a Hit for the actual Stay. Then something tells me it would cost alot more even at 4x pts to earn the 5k to transfer then what it would cost to simply buy them. Now had they allowed like Hilton to double dip that may be a different case, but they dont so
I guess if a person will need to be in a hotel anyway and wont be doing any other hotel promo and has already requalified for whatever status level they wanted with the other chains , yea it may workout if they dont mind these types of Hotels.
Whats better at least for next year is to build up ones eRewards acct, so that they get it up to at least $155 that way $25 for 500 miles to US, $100 to Choice 4k and $30 after 9/30 to Choice 1k. you're allowed only 1 cashout to Choice per Q so plan it right like I did by luck and move $100 befoer 10/1 and the other 30 after 9/30 and bingo you get 5k and enough for the transfer to DM. earn even more and could be they will allow a cashout to anotehr hotel as well and that way E can earn you 3 hits at worst 2

I emailed DM about this two weeks ago and haven't heard back, not even an acknowledgment. I asked if they need to recode Choice Privileges Mileage Awards to Conversion: Choice Club Plus Redemption. I included screenshots. Guess they're incredibly busy. Again I think we'll each need to ask because they can't go around guessing whose Choice "stay" is really a stay as opposed to a coding error.

I value amex MR at above 1 cent per point so I would rather pay for best western points. I am planning on buying 4K points for the transfer. If anyone still has not opened a best western account, you get 500 points for opening it through topguest then each check in at best western is 50 points. I drive by a best western to work everyday so I always check in :) 10 days = 500 more points and I only need to pay $40 for this transfer hit.

while $5k in spend = 5k in m iles and this way its only 1k in Miles But its really more then 1k since of the bonuses.
I sort of agreed when CO was a transfer member of MR, but now the only Carrier I might move anything to is DL so Im spending till I pay back the pts I borrowed for the BW transfer then CXing my Amex. Could be your spend on your Amex earns you tons of pts and teherfore it pays to move them to a non-US carrier or for other usage
For me it was a no brainer I was short 2k in pts and wanted a Free Hit

Club Carlson: Other posts on FT look like minimum transfer size for anyone is 2,000 points to 250 miles, which would mean 8,000 points to 1,000 miles to meet the minimum requirement for a hit. Make sure to do the transfer as one transaction with a quantity of 4 to get the hit. Transfers to a different person's DM account work, or you can just freely transfer to someone else's Club Carlson account. It looks like Club Carlson backdates transfers by one day (which might be good at the end of the promotion if you need one last hit). Club Carlson forum (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/club-carlson-formerly-radisson-goldpoints-plus-428/)I just did a transfer from Carlson to my DM account (my two Avis rentals for 5k points each from last month just posted) and on the airline transfer page they have this (maybe new?) note prominently displayed:
*Note: the last name on a Frequent Flyer account MUST be the same as the name on your Rewards account or your miles will not be awarded.If you can freely transfer to another's Club Carlson account then there's still hope on this, but it's a little harder now anyway.

You misunderstood what I was getting at. What I was trying to say was that if you travel a lot and have flexibility where you stay you can get enough points with Choice on one or two nights to do a hotel transfer hit. That's why I posted this in the transfer thread. If you want stay credits, that is different.
For example, let's use me. I have six Hilton family hotel stays booked between Set. 14 and Nov. 14 that, with Hilton's double dip, will give me the six stays for Grand Slam hotel stay hits. I have 1500 points in my Choice account and so booked 1 night at a Choice property that should get me enough points so I can do a transfer hit. And unrelated to Grand Slam, I have two nights booked at Marriott family properties that will earn me a mega bonus free night certificate. All these are on work, so don't cost me anything other than the time it takes to figure out how to best maximize my points/stays.

As far as Best Western, here is what I did:
1) Had 3800 points in account (need 5000 for transfer)
2) Status matched to Diamond
3) Called and asked to buy points...the lady was super nice and said what balance are you trying to get...I said 5K so I can transfer to air miles...she said since you are Diamond, I will just top off your account to 5K for no charge (she said, I'm surprised nobody else has offered you this option on previous calls).
All in all got topped off for free!

It says it's for new memberships. When I put a $2.99 daily deal game in the cart it automatically included a one month free trial to the Big Fish Game Club - I think it's this that is supposed to generate the 1,500 miles. After the first month it's $6.99 per month - so I'm wondering whether the 1,500 will still post if you cancel the membership before the free month is up...

I did this last year with no problem, transferred miles to both my DM acct and my daughters DM acct. THIS year I see that my DM number is "hardwired" into the transfer screen and it seems that I would have to change the DM number associated with my SPG for all transactions in order to do the transfer. And I don't want to do that because that's my mechanism for earning hotel stay hits to my DM account. Am I missing something?

To tell you the truth, I forgot about the auto-billing until my credit card was charged on 9/23. At that point, I decided to keep my Big Fish account active up until the next billing cycle just in case cancelling would affect the posting of Choice points. Looking back, I probably would have experimented with canceling my Big Fish account before the first auto-bill hit. The added $7.65 monthly fee made the value of the whole endeavor a bit questionable.

Anybody know if it is possible / easy to transfer e-rewards from one person's account to another family member's La Quinta account? If not then can transfers between La Quinta accounts be made?
Does anybody have a data point of how long the e-rewards to La Quinta transfer takes?
Yes, change the name in e-rewards account and transfer.
There is nothing that ties e-rewards account to one person or account.

There is nothing that ties e-rewards account to one person or account.
E-Rewards' member agreement does. It explicitly ties each account to one person/deposit recipient. Any success we have depositing to others is great (and widely reported) but keep in mind you're running a risk.

I meant there is nothing that ties a member to an account for initiating a transfer. As long as someone else is doing a transfer into your account or you are transferring into someone's account it is fine.
User agreement is for one individual (not household) to have one account, but not for multiple users pooling miles/points into one account.

When I try to transfer Carlson points to DM, why does it say:
Are you sure that you want to redeem 8,000 pts for 1,000 US-US AIRWAYS frequent flyer miles?
The miles will be transferred to Executive Club number: ###
Anyone notice this? and works fine?

I work next to a Doubletree and have a 4square account -- since I'm pretty close, is it fine if I check-in to the hotel everyday I'm at work to get the daily 50 points through TopGuest? I'm thinking that if I do this 'til the end of the month, I'll have enough HHonors points to do a transfer. But I also don't want to invalidate my points or account since I'm not staying at the hotel ...

You can freely change the e-rewards account's first/last name to have them match whatever name the Rewards Program (LQ in your case) account has. It's under "update contact" I believe.

Have many of you changed names and changed back successfully without e-Rewards flagging you? How about outside deposits without name changes? A previous poster said outside deposits are perfectly fine by e-Rewards. But does success depend on a sponsor's scrutiny or e-Rewards'? PM if preferred for privacy. Would appreciate further insight. thx

My experience was, e-rewards account in my name, I did US DM transfer to gf account WITHOUT changing name first, since it actually doesn't state names have to be same on US reward page, only to realize almost every other program stated names need to be same, and I started freaking out. I then quickly changed the e-rewards account name to my gf's name and emailed CS about it to make sure it was ok and asked them to see that it goes through. Received prompt response, twice assuring me since name is changed (despite being after initiating transaction), it should be ok. And it was.
After DM miles showed up in gf US account, I transferred 1000 choice points to her account as well and those posted instantly.
Then I changed the e-rewards account back to my name and am waiting to do another DM transfer after 30 day wait.

I kept name same until miles posted, as even though the transaction was initiated, I had no idea when they would actually process it and at which stage they actually do the name check (if they really do that....)

On the ICH forum, there are 3 surveys you can take for something like 500 points, although some have had success taking them in multiple languages and receiving additional points. Sign up for a TopGuest account and then you can also check in via foursquare and earn 50 points for each check-in.

Basic rule in most programs is that you need name match. If you call HH and ask this, at best they might look at your acct and at worst they might close this loophole for everyone.
Ask at FT, and get confirmed it works in real life. I guess that would be sufficient.

I called HH long ago when my BA transfer didn't go through. Not now. I transferred almost 50K points into BA, My points were deducted but not posted in BA account. I had to call them and get it reversed after almost 2 months.
Probably i should have reversed the scentences in my original post about calling.

Fax it is. I am staring at the form right now (which got emailed to us, by the way!). It says "requests submitted via email are not acceptable". It also asks for account numbers, names and signatures of both parties (transferor and transferee) and says that "request may take up to seven business days from the time of receipt to be processed".
I asked how long this paper based process was in place and the rep said "for about a year". :td::td::td: She also mentioned that we could write on the form asking to "rush" the request, whatever that means. :rolleyes:

Why don't you transfer from his MR account to your BW account?
In retrospect, it might have been an easier thing to do BUT:
a) I am not an additional AMEX card holder with an account linked to his MR number (as required by Membership Rewards program)
b) Given the above, I wasn't going to transfer his MR points to my BW account since names don't match (it might work with Amex MR but I've never tried it before and wasn't going to test it now)
c) Earlier posts up this thread (around post #312 or so) indicated that it was easy to transfer points between two BW accounts.
To sum up, it's a lot of work to make this one hit happen and there is still another step to request a BW transfer to Usairways.

I realize this would not help your current situation, but for the future...
a) I thought MR can transfer to anyone. My gf is additional cardholder of one of my three MR cards, so I can't tell you for sure if that requirement is true.
b) I did BW transfer for gf and I, but then, its given the above. I really thought MR can transfer to anyone.
c) Downside was MR -> BW was not instant like you said...

No airline/hotel program number is "tied" to e-rewards (unline e-miles), you simply enter the program number after you decide which reward and tier you want to transfer.
