SkyTeam - Sky Miles Award booking to India

Award booking to India from any major US city is almost impossible to get in Low miles. whether eco or biz class. has anyone had any luck getting this.
every time i have tried, low miles are always gone. High miles always available. this has been a pattern for almost 8-9 monhts out. year round.

In May booked two low business awards on AF for travel in March 2012 (ATL-BOM through CDG, and the return). Used Expert Flyer to search for dates. Awards seem to be easier to find on AF than other Skyteam participants. Expert Flyer is highly recommended because you set up notices that will let you know when awards become available.

Don't even bother searching DL.dumb, especially with flexible dates, as it won't search partners. EF is good, but if you want to see what's out there first without paying, try searching on airfrance.us with a free FlyingBlue account. Easiest way is to check from major US gateways (their flexible date search is great, too) and look for classic awards. IAD and JFK tend to have very good AF availability across the pond.

try out of alliance partners such as 9W as well- they offer some good options too. SkyTeam isn't just AF, KL and DL ;)
