I didnt see anything on this on google or on FT but I wanted into the lounge at a marriott tonight to find the fridge stocked solely with Coke products?

Is this a trend that others have seen? hadn't noticed it other locations in the past few weeks.

no change that I'm aware of - must be a local decision

Definitely have not noticed it, but I would welcome the change. There are a few hotels (like the LAX Renaissance) that seem to have a secret stash of Coke products where I have occasionally been able to get a Coke as part of the Platinum amenity.

I think Atlanta marriotts also use Coke being Coke is HQ in atlanta and they want teh corporate business!

But as far as I know pepsi rules marriott, probably the only thing I dislike about the chain (well that and maxwell house coffee.)

I also think the Franchisees are free to choose either coke or pepsi as they desire - leaving only the Marriott International owned properties married to Pepsi. And I think most franchisees would take pepsi as I'm sure there is a significant coast saving being under MI's corporate account.

all franchises are able to purchase anything they'd like however they are eligible to purchase under MI negotiated rates....MI managed hotels must follow corporate guidelines but are free to keep a supply on hand (of coke) as needed (if I'm not mistaken Hyatt moved to Pepsi last year...but I might have that backwards..they might have moved away from Pepsi but dont think so)

At one time, Marriott was one of Pepsi's larger accounts.

Pepsi is even more of a presence at Marriott's international properties.

Hyatt has had Pepsi for as long as I can remember (going back to 2009 when I first visited a Regency Club).
