Hawaii - Car Rentals on Maui - HELP!

I'm heading to Maui for 6 days at the end of August and am trying to find the best deal for a rental car. Anyone know of any good deals that are going on right now?

Looked at Costco deals, the individual websites for many companies, hotwire, priceline, some of the sites that I found you guys referring to throughout the board, etc. Nothing is that great. The best deal I found (out the door, including tax) was 168.77 for an economy car on hotwire. That seems pretty high to me. Anyone have any luck with the "name your price" on priceline? If I were to "name my price" at let's say, $18.00/day, how much in taxes should I expect to pay?

Any help you guys can give would be much appreciated. Trying not to go broke on this vacation. :)

Don't you get charged as soon as THEY accept your offer? For example, If I put $18/day, and some company accepts that, aren't I then required to pay whatever the total is?

Find somewhere else cheaper.. cancel with no fee and slip into the emergency last minute discount rental.. so worry free shopping the discount rentals..

I'll be using this service for the spring break vacation I've booked next year on Oahu and Maui..
