Looks like the site isn't quite live yet. When you register it displays the old 'Stay 2, Get 1' promo.

So $200 for 8K pts. Seems like the previous deal was better?

... Actually maybe not. This is easier for longer stays.

They should do 6X for Elite when booking through choicehotels.com!

It's also uncapped. The previous one was capped at 10 8K's (thus 20 stays), even for the very most elite, and tremendously capped for the not-as-elite. This one you can earn on way way more nights (especially those who weren't in the topmost elite levels during the last promo).

Btw, it's for US / Canada members only.

This is icing on the cake for US Airways Grand Slam participants as well: Wyndham is out, Choice is in.

What if you're set up to earn miles, not points, for Choice stays? Do you get 4x miles? Terms don't seem to specify.

Usually the promotion doesn't concern miles.
If you are interested only by miles, you should calculate how many miles you will have if you take points with bonus and convert them in miles after . If it's more thant 250, do it :)

(it is usually the case expecially if you stay more thant 1 night and if it's not "cheap" brand like econolodge)

Due to start in 2 days. I just got an email from Choice about this earlier today, but as of this hour, still no banner about this promotion at the main Choice page. What are they waiting for?

There is definitely point inflation going on in the fall though, at least in California. Most of the 6000 point motels have moved to 8000 points, and some of the 8000 point motels (with a few Comforts and Qualitys mixed in) have moved to the 10,000 point tier.

I've encountered this, too, but I see that they go back down from September 16, at least the ones where I stay. Exception: Rodeway Inn Capitol in West Sacramento (was stuck there with a broken down vehicle) where it's still 6,000 all the way. Probably because it's on as much of a "motel row" as you'll find anywhere. But it is ironic that they've stayed at 6,000, when they hate to "give away" rooms. FWIW: Nice enough motel in a rather strange neighborhood, though it is almost next to the River Rats' Raley Field. (This was not where I had the misadventure I reported in a parallel thread.)

In fact, it is 5X for Elite member, as the 4X bonus seems to apply to the 25% elite. So that's definitly a better deal than the 1 free night for 2 stays...

Um... I've just re-visited this, re-run the numbers after I first thought I saw it a couple of days ago, and for my recent Rodeway stays, they sum to four times. I mean first the 5x base (price of the room, not counting tax, as is always the case, promo or no promo) points, then four times that. For me, there is no "Diamond advantage" (which I would feel were present if the Diamond points were multiplied, or were added at the end as is the case with the stay-twice-earn-8,000, or stay thrice-earn-16,000 promos).

But I am well on the way to a second $50 Walmart card. Works out to an average rate that's not too shabby.

I checked again and you are right. In my statement the elite bonus does apply but only on the base amount of point.
So 100$US + tx gives : 1000+250+3000 = 4250 CP

Yes. You can consider you'll have :
base points
bonus of 10/25/50% of base points if you are Elite
bonus of 3X the base points
