I'm going to be staying at the Brisbane, Cairns, and Adelaide Mercure hotels. I am under the impression the benefits from a-club do not apply to Mercure. Is this the case? Anything at all being a gold a-club member?

No most of them do credit points, some novotel hotels don't.
You will more than likely go up a room category but that's prob about it... And DO mention your status on arrival as accor hotel staff in Australia are pretty slack with knowing the program rules.

However, exclusive advantages are only available at Sofitel, Pullman and MGallery.
