Germany - Berlin 3rd Week September

I'm planning to do a Prague - Berlin - Copenhagen trip in September.

I'm noticing that hotels in Berlin on the 3rd week of Sept are much inflated. Is there any event going on that's causing this price hike?
I tried searching on google and the visitberlin website, but can't seem to find any information as to a reason.

Anyone have an idea?

The Pope is visiting Berlin on 22 September. Perhaps that?

I think there is a huge annual trade fair in town that week.

Go to the berlin.de website. They usually have a list of upcoming events and conventions taking place there. I'll be there the second week of September, and I was able to book at the IHG Pointsbreak redemption of 5k points per night :cool:.

Don't know if the weekend of the 25th still qualifies as the "third week of September", but that's when the Berlin Marathon (http://www.bmw-berlin-marathon.com/) will be held. Lots of people from abroad in the city, usually days before the event too.

If you are in town that day, certainly worth seeing. Was there last year, from beginning to end, 26 miles... :cool: First time it rained that day in the last 20 years though! :mad:

Don't stay at the Hyatt if the Marathon is on - it is effectively cut off by road for most of the day! Very bad experience a couple of years ago.
