Welcome to FT!

Well, have a great trip. Europe is a big area, there's certainly lots of space to run around, and there are many Hiltons.

you will find a certain poster on these Travel with kid threads who hates kids, you will recognize him instantly, find out where he stays and go there, you will love it and your kids will probably enjoy it even more :p

Be sure to confirm when booking the bed configuration and max number of adults and children in the room. Many European hotels, including Hiltons do not allow 4 in a room. We are booking two rooms every night for the first time for this year's trip as our girls are 9 and 12 now and cramming into a single room just isn't an option any more. Hard to sneak in a 5'5" "kid" and hard to make her sleep on a sofa bed these days.

I live in Europe and I also want to warn you that some Hiltons are not very well located. So be sure to pull up a map and check before you book. Dragging tired children on long public transport rides after a busy day of sightseeing is not fun!

You can even turn this into a fun game by asking to switch seats with him on the way! :D

LOL! Good one...

Just as a tip, Novotel standard rooms will fit two adults and two children quite well. These are not posh hotels but very kid-friendly, well-located and often have pools.

I have had good luck with Hilton Metropole, Hilton Canary Wharf (both in London), and Hilton Prague accommodating kids with adults in a single room.

Sofabeds aren't comfortable for me at 5'6" so why would they be much better for her at 5'5", especially when sharing with her wiggly little sister? The last time we did it was for only 2 nights and the dark circles under her eyes were pretty bad by day two. 7 nights of that with jet lag combined would be way too miserable for her, and miserable 12 year old girl= miserable parents.

With this I quite agree. When traveling to Frankfurt, Paris, Prague, and Zurich for work, I found many more Marriott properties and generally in better locations.

LOL, no kidding, we could get a mega thread if we could make this happen

Novotels are not the biggest on comfort but I thought I'd mention a hotel chain perhaps the OP isn't familiar with, but is good for families. Small children are usually fine on the sofa bed in a standard room. Mine find it "fun". Perhaps it's not ideal for jetlag on the night of arrival, I agree but many are well located, as far as sights are concerned.

They hand out kids' toys and often have kids' play areas, including video games. The restaurants are not bad and have good kids' menus. The pools are also not super-delux but it was novelty to just a small indoor pool in the center of Paris (Gare de Lyon).

We stayed in one once in our home town when we accidently forgot to top up our fuel tank (no line and we're in a fair-sized city!) No heat or hot water in winter... Oops. Shall I mention the fuel company secretary laughed... Didn't make that mistake again. "So what brings you here..." Please don't ask!!!

either that or the flames would burn out FT!

while its not the spg sweet sleeper LOL, I've never had a problem when I've been stuck on a sofa bedThere must be different grades of sofa beds, or perhaps you are one of those lucky people who can sleep anywhere. I'm not, and I'd rather sleep on the floor than the average sofa bed - at least on the floor, no metal rods would be prodding me in the back.

My kid also hates them, so we've reached the point where trips go better if I turn down the king suite (hey, isn't that what I got status for?!) and take the room with 2 queen beds.

looking to stay with 2active boys in Europe next summer using our Hilton pointsif you're looking for help or ideas on where to stay, what to do, perhaps you could rephrase your post as a question so folks would know what sort of info you'd like.

Well, as OP has never even logged into FT since this first post, perhaps she just wanted to announce her summer vacation plans?

Are the cots any better? Kids should be thankful they get to travel free of charge. :p
