IYO, what is the most exotic Hilton property?

While the Hiwaiian properties are nice, they are not exotic.

Never been, but I would assume the Maldives property is one. St. Lucia another?

Because of my totally crappy job, I'll earn perhaps a million HHonors points this year. My wife wants to go to the HHV, which will only put a small dent in my points accrual. So....

What are the 2-4 most exotic Hilton hotels? I'm looking for something truly unique.

Most of the best award opportunities will be overseas. Not sure how far you are willing to go. I would think that the Maldives would fit the exotic category.

The new underwater restaurant, in the Maldives, looks like a cool place to eat.

For the overall experience try HiltonCavalier in Rome or the Hilton in Prague. Maybe not wildly exotic, but classy hotels in two of the most romantic cities in the world. I agree - it is probably best to venture out beyond the US. The underwater restaraunt sounds interesting too - but never been. Have a great time wherever you go.

Th Hilton Prague, while a dcent hotel, is most certainly not exotic or even especially upscale. I do recommend Prague as a beautiful destination but not as exotic.

"Exotic" is in the eye of the beholder (or his wife)!

However if you are prepared to travel then he heading to this post contains my recommendations, all of which are "exotic" in my view.

The Seychelles and Mauritius are hard (i.e. expensive) to get to. The others mentioned are relative easy.

How do you define "exotic"? I'm not quite sure what that means to you. I looked thru my list of top Hiltons around the world, and really chose a small subset.

Maldives - top of the list - and very tough to get a reservation
Hilton Otaru, Japan
Conrad Bangkok, Thailand
Auckland Hilton, New Zealand

Of those, the Maldives looks the most promising. I lived in Bangkok for a few years and would not choose the Conrad for a return trip. Too many other interesting properties there....

Very true statement.

Hilton has announced plans to open a hotel in Ushuaia, the world's southernmost city, in 2007. The brand will ring in 2008 with a brand-new 5-star resort in Puerto Iguazu, site of Argentina's second most visited destination Iguazu Falls. The resort will be one of the first to offer direct access to Iguazu Falls through boat tours departing from an on-site marina.

Exotic: Isn't there one in Mecca in Saudi Arabia ?
You would have to be a muslim though to get anywhere near it.

A Conrad has been announced for Koh Sumai (Thailand) late 2008--which probably means late 2009, given Hilton Corporation's track record of new openings.

And another Conrad is slated for Bimini in the Bahamas--I forget the projected opening date.

try the one in Addis Ababa.

Not to argue, but this is a pretty unremarkable Hilton...aside from the guys with machine guns out front.

The location isn't bad, though the walk to town can be adventure-filled.

I'm looking for something truly unique.

Not only is it the most exotic, its probably also the cheapest Hilton in the world (USD30 per night).

Deep in the jungles of Borneo, its 4hrs on the road and a boat ride from Kuching. Its built along the style of tribal long houses with rooms facing away from the lake due to local superstitions. Only thing missing from these "long house" hotel rooms are the trophies of head hunters (i.e. human skulls) hanging from the ceiling :p

With your million HHonors points and this being a Cat 1 hotel, you have enough points to stay there for at least 100 nights. However, I suggest you pay cash instead and stay for just 2 nights; it does get a bit boring after a night or two unless you are willing to venture into the jungles for some Indiana Jones adventure :D

The Northolme Seychelles is another one on the exotic side. They have point stretcher special for May and June. I'm staying 6 nights for 144,000 points. Feel a little guilty since the standard rate for the King Oceanfront villa is well in excess of $800. Great value for the points and the location looks amazing! You could stop in Rome, London or Paris on the way.

Conrad Bali was beautiful and the Maldives is next on the list.

Definitely wouldn't call the HHV exotic. It's alright, but a little dated. If you have that many points might be worth the Grand Wailea instead if she absolutely needs to go to Hawaii or you can island hop and do both. Grand Wailea is at a great location in Maui. I didn't stay there, but a couple doors down at the Fairmont.

Just completed a stay at Conrad Bangkok and I loved it. Got a corner room and it was very nice. I absolutely loved the breakfast there! So much to eat! I am in a phase, I am more inclined to switch to Hilton Brand hotels from SPG... as all of my four stays at Gold this year pretty much beats all of my experience as SPG Gold (~25 stays since the beginning of last year).

Oh, I love the elephant stuff dolls... I stayed in two single bed corner room and there were two dolls for me to keep. :)

Wow! The Falls are our favorite destination! We have stayed at the Hotel right in the park.
This is most definitly a destination to go!!!!!
We went once when we were in EZE for a week flying up for 2 nights of our trip. The other time we flew directly to Sao Paolo Brazil and from there to the Falls for 3 nights. Quick trip but worth it! The area can def be enjoyed in that time. More time would be very exotic and relaxing!

IMHO Conrad Bangkok is an average business hotel and nothing special. Shouldn't be on anybodys most exciting list.

The very new Sanya property is exotic, romantic, gorgeous and the staff members are kind and helpful. Your honey would probably enjoy the round tub and lush grounds. As a Diamond, I was treated like GOLD there!

The this for an exotic hotel, the Hilton Batang Ai Longhouse Resort. Its 3 hours into the Borneo Jungle from Kuching, Malaysia. the only way to get there is by the Hilton Kuching shuttle bus and then a boat.
This is from the website
"Set on the edge of spectacular rainforest, the Hilton Batang Ai Longhouse Resort is Hilton’s only jungle property. The Batang Ai national park is a 2-hour boat ride away, but rainforest surrounds the hotel waiting to be discovered."

It doesn't get great reviews on Tripadviser but IMO you'd be hard pressed to find a more exotic chain hotel.

While it may be a "steal" at 10,000 points, it is very expensive to get to/from,

And while you are relaxing by the pool, enjoy the overwhelming beauty of the nearby cement factory (close to the hotel) and the industrial port,

The Salalah (unfortunately) caters almost exclusively for group tours and several charter jets arrive each week from Sweden and Norway. The property does not have an Executive Loungs and the overall level of service leaves a lot to be desired,
