Wyndham Rewards - I Think Wyndham Vacations Screwed Me. Your thoughts here:

I bought a Wyndham prepaid vacation about a year ago for 4 days 3 nights in Panama City. I met the income requirements but not the age requirements (I was 25 at the time and they required 28. The salesman then asked if I was married and I said no GF, and he asked me if she was 28 or older and I said yes which was true at the time. He said that is fine and I ended up buying it for $200 and I was supposed to get a $200 Amex GC at the sales presentation.
Fast forward a year and I am running out of time. I ask a friend if he wanted to go and he was game to go, so I called to schedule my dates and they were not available but they did tell me I could book past that date since they were sold out.
I tried to rebook for 2 weeks later tonight on the phone, and as the woman was going over all the things I needed to bring etc, she told me that I needed to be 28 and make 75K or more a year to which I responded I am only 26 and that I know I did not lie about my age. She put me on hold and reviewed the audio tape and confirmed that when I was asked to confirm my age of 28 I responded that I am not but my GF is.
She then told me that I cannot use the vacation unless there is someone that is 28 present.
I then told her that I was never informed of this requirement and the salesman basically qualified me after hearing my GF met the age requirement.
She repeatedly said its not her decision and that supervisors cannot do anything about it and they had just left for the evening. She told me my only option is to write a letter to some address and plead my case for a refund.
I repeatedly told her that I am fine with either a refund of my $200 or let me use the package and quite frankly I don’t care which one it is.

What should I do in this situation? I am really pissed and any advice would be appreciated. I will be calling again in the morning and trying my luck with a supervisor. I have stayed about 50 nights in Wyndham properties in 2011 alone and this is absolute BS in my opinion considering I was solicited this offer through Wyndham Hotels customer service, and basically had a salesman who qualified me on a technicality.

Time share/ prepaid vacations are a pain. You have to read every little detail.

In your case it is just $200 so not a big loss.
I feel these types of "deals" are constantly booked.

I will either just eat the loss or find someone who is 28 to go with (a friend or new gf or someone) to go with you.

You can also read the T&C's of the deal to see if there is any wiggle room.

How exactly was I supposed to read the t&c's of a phone sales pitch?

Good point. Did you receive anything from the hotel.
(Look at the bright side. You did not buy and expensive timeshare that has annual fees)

I went to a Hilton one last year. (same thing got the offer when calling hhonors about missing points) and was blown away at how expensive they were.
After explaining to the salesman that I live in hors and have enough points for years of vacations, he agreed it wasn't for me.
If I had a family I would consider one, but as a single guy I do not see the benefit, I usually just travel with one other person.

I called wyndham again this morning and was told all the supervisors were in a meeting. She read a note in my file that explained what my issue was so I am afraid they are nut going to even let me talk to a supervisor.
I will get my money back eventually just don't like the hassle of it all.
I truly do feel like I was taken advantage of. Had I known a 28 yo had to be with me I never would of purchased as none of my friends were/are that age, and I didn't think I would still be seeing that girl when I planned on redeeming.

I agree that it sucks, but I think it was probably a given that you'd bring your GF? Hopefully pleading for a refund will work for you.

Not really surprised by this but I never recievedc a call back from a supervisor as I was told.

Such a waste of my time, really regretting signing up for this.

UPDATE: Recieved a call from a Wyndham Vacations supervisor who reviewed the audio confirmation and is processing a refund for my vacation because I clearly responded that I was not 28 at the time of purchase.

Sounds like it should be resolved to some level of satisfaction then!

They should have not sold it to you in the first place.
Salespeople are sneaky some times and try to get away with things but glad it worked out for you.
