So you will get a US plug which you need to adapt to Sweden. RCyyz Aug 10, 11, 7:33 pm My (Canadian) iPad worked perfectly well when I put a sim from Tre (Italy) in it. I know others who use AT&T sims in their Canadian iPads while travelling in the US. So no, iPads are not locked. So long as you can find a sim from the carrier of your choice, you'll be fine. As pointed out, the charging plug will be North American so you'll need a plug adapter for use in Sweden (or buy another charger at home). The charger is universal so it will work - it's just the plug itself that needs the adapter. You can buy an iPad from apple.com so long as you have a valid US shipping address. Note that hotels count as valid shipping address, but best to be staying at the hotel for multiple days just in case there are shipping delays. But I don't think it's hard to buy iPad2 in the stores nowadays. You can probably just walk into a store (Apple, BestBuy etc) and pick one up. Out of curiosity, how much is an iPad 64GB 3G in Sweden? Here in Canada it's $849 + tax. By the time you add a cover it's just shy of $1000. D582 Aug 10, 11, 8:46 pm You can definitely buy it in the USA. If you go for the 3G version, make sure you opt for the AT&T edition as that is the GSM/HSPA one. It is not locked. For charging, you can always buy the Apple World Adapter Kit which includes the plugs for all over the world http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB974ZM/B?fnode=MTY1NDA2Nw&mco=MjE5MDg0ODk or just use a plug adapter with the US plug Out of curiosity, how much is an iPad 64GB 3G in Sweden? I looked on the Swedish Apple Store site... a 64GB 3G is listed as 7.195,00 kr which is about $1,085 CAD or $1,100 USD. I believe that price does include the 25% VAT though ClimbGuy Aug 10, 11, 8:59 pm don't waist your money on the apple world adapter kit, just but a universal one for $5. Also if you are in the states long enough consider buying them from Amazon or MacMall so you don't have to pay sales tax. you should also discard all packaging before returning home ~tc~ Aug 11, 11, 11:42 am Ummm .... how do you put a SIM in an iPad? gfunkdave Aug 11, 11, 11:51 am Ummm .... how do you put a SIM in an iPad? http://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+put+sim+in+ipad Yay for Google! adambadam Aug 11, 11, 9:14 pm Ummm .... how do you put a SIM in an iPad? If you have a 3G iPad (ATT flavor only in the states) there is a microSIM tray along the edge of the device that you can pop out with a very thin paperclip. It is very easy do to and not need to turn off the device (sometimes you have to restart it though if it is not recognized) or remove any batteries (which you can't do any ways). ~tc~ Aug 11, 11, 9:31 pm Must be because mine is Verizon edition |
