Question regarding using points to upgrade to business class seating the day before departure, if we have already reserved and paid for coach seats will this money be refunded if there is availability to upgrade by using our points?
Thanks in advance,
Kate

Welcome to Flyertalk!
Can you please explain your question some more? You purchased coach tickets and you want to upgrade using points. What money do you want refunded? Do you really mean you want to buy Business tickets using points alone?
Edited to add: Assuming you are on a non-refundable ticket and you want to buy a new ticket using points alone, then no... you will not receive a refund.

Are you asking about paying the fee for selecting your coach seats in advance (i.e. seat 14A @$15 or 26D @$6)?
That's an issue that may soon be affecting me, so I'm glad you asked it. In the past, whenever I've upgraded, it's been by paying the fee. Under those circumstances, the coach seat fee was applied to the BC upgrade. I would assume that the seat fee would be banked in your account, to be applied toward other travel.

Thank you, yes, you explained it much better than I did. We reserved and paid for our coach seats at the time I booked the flight (two $6 seats and one $20 exit row seat). I am hoping there is availability to upgrade to BC using points the day before our flight and was wondering if the "seat" money would be refunded (or credited towards a later flight).

Those fees will be refunded to your credit card upon applying the credits toward the business class seats.

Your assumption is incorrect 9499. The credit will be applied to the original form of purchase. :D:D:D

^ Now, I'm really hoping that a couple of BC seats will be available for upgrade.
Thanks for the info, RSVP.

Can you use merely 4 points to upgrade a multiple segment trip or is it 4 points per segment?

It's 4 credits for the whole flight, all segments included. Credit to $$ wise, a multi stop trip upgrade is the best redemption out there.
