Hilton HHonors - Best Wash DC area property for family weekend

Hi-- I am thinking of taking the kids to DC for a long weekend late fall. We would like to see the sights, but would also like a pool for the kids and a health club for the grownups. We will be driving down from NJ. We're Gold, so a towers lounge would be nice, but from reading the posts, not sure if they are open weekends. Comments on a good family property?? The ES Chevy Chase pavilion looks tempting--but I could not find anything under search. The HGI Franklin Sq has the pool and health club and seems to get decent reviews. Thanks all.

Punki really likes the HGI Franklin. And true enough, it is very convenient to attractions, metro, etc. But as a HGI, the services may be less.

But if it's good enough for Punki...

The last time I stayed at the ES was during a blizzard a few years ago, so things may have changed...but at the time they did have a nice health club and a pool. It's connected to the subway, meaning easy access downtown. (about 18 minutes to tourist stuff, closer to the zoo. Many restaurants of all varieties and prices within walking distance, shopping also.)
That said, it isn't urban-downtown, but in a nice upscale suburban town. But again, only a short ride from everything....

I stayed in dc a couple of weeks ago and stayed at the e.s tyson'corner. They offer a 99.00 weekend rate. They offer a shuttle to and from the metro. Near the 2 hugh malls in Tyson's corner (a upscale dc sub). Managers happy hour on weekends 5:30 - 7:30 - beer wine and rail drinks.

I spent a weekend at the ES in Chevy Chase with my family and was very pleased. There's a Cheesecake Factory in the mall that's attached to the hotel. Yum!

Just returned from a week with the family at the ES Chevy Chase. Good property, pretty standard ES. Indoor pool with health club. Metro stop attached. Who needs lounge acess with 2 hours of free drinks and a cooked to order breakfast every morning!
