Congrats, freeupgrade ! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

I too will be Diamond, but not until later this year.
How does this work - when you have the required # of stay does Hilton contact you, or do you contact them ? etc. etc.

Any help from our Diamond brethern is appreciated here.

When the required stays post (see the website) your status will be upgraded (immediately visible on website). After a couple of months you receive the welcome letter with the card & some information.

That's it really. No gifts, nothing particularly funky (except the envelope your new card arrives in), no personal concierge... There's nothing "magic" happening - if that's what you're expecting :|

Its like your birth-day really - you look forward to it for a while, as it gets closer you get more excited, then, when you wake up on that momentous morning - surprise - you are just the same as you were yesterday!

There's a Diamond Desk???

I saw absolutely no difference in the way I was treated after I became Diamond.

Aside from the extra points, expect nothing.

Well, according to my credit card company I'm at 29 stays. According to hhonors.com, I'm at 24 http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Uhg!

I don;t believe you will ever hear those words because there is no dedicated diamond reservation desk (unless this is something new).

I can confirm that there is a "Diamond Desk", I use them regularly. If you call the HH desk, they will provide those of you who are Diamonds with the number.

I have read several posts before about the Diamond reservation number and help desk. 'Tis told that that is the major benefit to hitting Diamond in that one can actually use one's points without blackout dates, etc.

Looking forward to hitting it myself very shortly. Make a search under Hilton and look for "Diamond". You will find the number and related comments. Good luck.

Well, after an hour on the phone with hhonors and several 'supervisor conversations' followed by numerous 'override codes,' my account now says 28 stays, but still reads GOLDVIP. Guess I'll give that a couple of days to flip over. My doubletree stay last night will take me to 29.

I don't feel any different....yet...
