Just noticed this - Comfort Hotel Mandarina (http://www.comfortinn.com/hotel-grasse-france-FR431?sid=xAUz.r7o_Ogvtri.24).
So new, points rates haven't been posted yet.
If you like perfume, Grasse is the place to go. :)

Thanks for the information.
I cannot recall being able to see the water from anywhere there with the naked eye. This section of the Maritime Alps is indeed quite beautiful and close enough with a car to explore the famous French Riviera spots bordering the water.
Apparently I don't have sufficient points to book the hotel (which is rather shocking given I have a large 6 figure balance of points).
OK, OK - "on the Riviera" may be a little misleading. :)
We were definitely on the Riviera when we took a little side trip to Grasse. Not a long ride, and indeed beautiful countryside.
Because it's not on the water, prices tend to be lower and you're not that far away from the lovely Cannes beaches. As you know, there's much more to do in the Riviera/Provence region than just splash in the Med.
Sorry about your points not being any good there - I guess we'll see what it goes for when they fully integrate it into the system.
Meanwhile, I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that the current rates in Europe stay as they are, because I can't book my place in Paris for about another 10 days yet.

Thanks for this advisory. I typically stay at one of the Accor brands while in the area, but would be happier in the Choice family -- I think. (The non-luxury Accor brands there aren't nice.) Not looking for a response from the busy GUWonder, but I wonder if insufficient points really reflected no official requirement yet. Or maybe that's already the point.

You got it.
It's now showing as 12,000 points/night. No indication as to what it will be after the 'sale' ends.

(Do a location search for CP Reward Night reservations without specifying dates and you get a nice table of point costs.)

Ironic. Wonder if they didn't get the word...

This was interesting. For the Mandarina, in red:
