ML2 is a value award of 7500 good for a buy one/get one free meal. It is not available at all Hilton properties. But, I can't get Hilton to give me straight answer on status of Jerusalem Hilton accepting these puppies.
Can ya help?

Hi there-

Family trip to Israel end of March. Any highlights (or hopefully not!) lowlights about this property that you care to share would both helpful and appreciated.

In May of 2001 we made a reservation at the Jerusalem Hilton for Christmas of 2001 for a six-night stay using Hilton Honors points. Last week I received a letter from the property stating that they were no longer affiliated with Hilton and would not accept the points as payment. They would be happy to offer us 1/2 price off the rack rate! O boy! The fact is that we cannot afford to take this trip to Isreal if we have to pay for six nights in a nice hotel in Jerusalem.

I have been calling Hilton Honors every day and no one is returning my calls. Supposedly it has gone to someone named Moses and he knows about the situation and is working on it. He will not return my calls for a status update.

I am in a bind because American will only hold my plane reservations 5 more days before I lose them. Fortunately, I have not purchased any non-refundable tickets.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? Any suggestions?

Talk to an HHonors supervisor and get them to HHonor your reservation. HHonors can foot the bill and pay the hotel!

i know Moses, if anyone can settle things, he is the one who can do it. We have been very busy with computer problems the last few days, and he is normally swamped anyway. Please try and contact him again, and make sure he knows you only have 5 days to do something about the airfare.

Thank you for being here. I wanted to state that sometimes all we need is to know that things are working or that we are doing things the right way. Thanks again for giving us your input.

Just wondering. Does anyone else find it amusing that the person that Marriottmillionaire is relying upon to fix his trip to Israel is named Moses? Personally, I would take it as a good sign! I hope that it all works out.

Sounds like Moses will part the waters.

Or at least the red tape.

Frankly, I question your choice of Christmas vacations. Have you heard that the middle east has had a smidgen of violence recently?

i got the bad news the other day that they no longer are a Hilton, tried to make a res online. Funny called the Hotel and they still say Hilton,I asked why they said as of yet they havent choosen a new name and they cant say Hotel or Jerusalem. I said you sure can say simply "Hotel".
well now got to figure out where to spend all those bonus pts.

I'm afraid I fall on the other side of this issue. If a hotel changes its affiliation, it is under no obligation to honor free stays unless Hilton itself will pay the offered discounted rate on a member's behalf. Changes occur all the time. It is part of business and the free market. These things cannot always be anticipated, but we have to accept them as part of the risk we face in this game. While it would be nice if Hilton does this for you as a PR jesture, the small print does cover such circumstances as disaffiliated hotels.

If someone buys a company, he gets the debts as well as the assets. They must have been aware of what reservations were already in place when they took over. With tourism off by 70% due to the violence, I am sure there are rooms available! Let us know what happens.

(maybe it was not meant to be - it is a bad time to be going there)

No one "bought the company". The hotel owner has been in a dispute with the management company (Hilton International) for several months over how the hotel was being run. What happened yesterday was the owner broke the 50-year management contract with Hilton, which Hilton said wasn't done legally, so I'm sure we haven't heard the last of this.

I finally received a call from Hilton Honors. (Not from Moses). What they are doing is pulling the points from our account and paying for a standard hotel room themselves. I think this is fair, although our Gold status means nothing and we will not be upgraded or have access to the Executive lounge.
I agree with Shareholder that the hotel has no obligation, however, I believe Hilton Honors did have an obligation to fulfill our agreement. And that is what they are doing. So, for that, I think they came through with good customer service.
