How does this work? In what way is it different than stamping a BP for instance?

I'm actully quite curious about this myself, seeing as I have never used it (or seen it for that matter) myself:D

They stick a barcode sticker on your boarding pass, in order to gain access at the fast track lane you scan the barcode, it works automatic and makes sure that no-one without permission will get there .

Here is the photo that I got last time I was there.

http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/252150_10150285446888329_679943328_7250772_7293023 _n.jpg

You scan your sticker at the place that the red light is. It is very nice as the fast track lane is always empty/fast.

Last time I passed through BRU I just scanned the regular barcode on the boarding pass (BA though - I guess A3 boarding passes don't have barcodes then?)

I feel like an idiot for saying this, but I passed that very spot a few weeks ago and did not even notice it was there.

One published benefit of A3*G is Fast lane security access (http://en.aegeanair.com/milesandbonus/program-description/benefits/gold-card-privileges/) at certain European airports (Athens International Airport, Heraklion, Thessaloniki, London-Heathrow, Brussels, Rome-Fiumicino, Dusseldorf, Madrid, Milan-Malpensa, Stuttgart Airports and Tel Aviv). Little is said about this privilege except access is gained "simply by displaying your Gold Miles&Bonus card ".

I just tried this at LHR T3 on an ANA flight and ran into a bit of trouble. I showed by A3*G card and boarding pass to the security officer, but he didn't want to let me in because my card was Aegean and my boarding pass was ANA. He said that they had "guidelines from the airlines and my card had to be relevant to my flight". I showed him that the boarding pass said A3*G and had my A3 card number on it - but still he persisted that my card was not "relevant" to my BP. Eventually he gave up arguing and let me through, but warned me that "they" might not let me through further on. There were no further BP checks and quickly got through fastlane security and had no other problems.

I was just wondering if anyone knew what the rules are on Fastlane access - I did think maybe that it didn't apply to T3 LHR, but as he recognised that my card would give me access if it were "relevant" makes me think that it has something to do with the rules. Going by the security guy and his guidelines it would seem ok if you fly on Aegean, whether or not you are crediting miles to A3. I thought it would be like lounge access - ok on a *A flight if you have your A3 number on your BP. Of course the A3 website, unless I've missed something in the T&C, suggests that the only qualification is having the card, regardless of with whom you are flying. Any ideas?

TBH, due to the way it is set up FastLane T3 doesn't speed you up that much, but it does spit you out directly in departures, obviating the need to take a long walk through shops first.

Fast track is independent of *A, i.e. it's between the airport and the individual airline to set the rules for its passengers. In other words, the agent at LHR couldn't care less wether you were *G or not. If you flew coach on A3, you would have gotten an "invitation" to use the fast track lane. Unfortunately these are the rules, yet sometimes you may happen to find a sympathetic or less knowledgeable "lane guardian" who might let you through: in other words, you loose nothing by trying.

Fast track is independent of *A,

Thanks for the reply. I knew that this was an extra benefit of A3 and not a *A perk, but it wasn't clear from the website that this only applied when flying on A3 metal. Your response backs up what the security guy at LHR had been told, so I guess it's another case of there being hidden rules, like those for lounge entry, that are not explicit in the T&C.

I am sure it is the same at other airports.

I have now checked with A3 and they confirm that fast track for A3 elites only applies when they fly on A3 metal.

I guess I was lucky to be allowed through, but I think it also illustrates how vague the terms of the M&B website are.

Indeed it should be clearer and something that will be fed back .

It appears this benefit is available to all STARGolds flying on A3, not just A3 STARGolds. At IST I was given a Fast Track card for Passport Control even though I am AC STARGold not an A3 STARGold -- and no, unlike many on this side of the Atlantic I have no intention of scamming the system and becoming A3 STARGold to get lounge benefits when flying within the USA -- and it was marvellous to skip the huge regular line. (Security at IST is carried out at the gate, not going airside, so no Fast Track there.) Hope this is an indication I will get the Fast Track on my return at ATH on Tuesday.

...Hope this is an indication I will get the Fast Track on my return at ATH on Tuesday.Just in case you do OLCI and you, thus, have no Fast-Track sticker on your BC, ask for one at the A3 check-in counter (use either the business or the M&B Gold one). Moreover, ask for an invitation to the lounge: as you're flying to a non-Schengen country you will be using the OA lounge and you are therefore not automatically admitted, as a *G, to their lounge (unless, of course, you're flying business).

Thanks for the tips. I will have a bag to check so have made a note to ask for both at check-in. I tried OLCI and was able to select my seat but the boarding pass would not print on the IC's Club lounge printer. Will do seat selection again for the return but this time won't have access to a printer.

Update: Agent automatically put the sticker on my boarding pass and wrote out a pass to the Olympic lounge, though because I arrived before the departure gate was available she sent me on my way with no indication of which wing of the airport I would go to. Deduced from the map (and the Olympus Aristotle Onassis lounge pass) that it would be in the international departures wing. Nice shock when I got to the Metro station only to discover there was a strike today. (No indication of this on the web site that purports to list strikes in this country!) Ended up taking a cab for E35 plus tolls. Good thing I had bought extra Euros for my trip next month to Paris! (I know there is a city bus to the airport but had no time to get to it, or for the lengthy journey.)

Why do you think that's scamming the system?

They announce strikes around the airport over the PA system every 15 minutes or so. Not ideal, but usually does the job when arriving to get an idea of what is going on.

As for the taxi: Don't give them money for the tolls. Its supposed to be included in the fare of 35 euro. Tolls are only 2 Euro something anyway, if you passed more than one (or paid more than 2 euro) they took you on a detour around the city.

The fare is supposed to be 35 euro, however I have seen them trying to charge much more than that. Especially when being picked up from not within the city center ring. Does anybody know if the whole city is supposed to fall within the 35 euro fare, or only the inner center ring? For example Egaleo, should that be included?

The strikes are often announced via the Greek press English sites. Lucky they are not now as frequent as they once were in the aviation sector that is. There is a bin strike on Wed/Thurs this week but I doubt it will effect most on here :D

If you do see a future strike it might be an idea to pre book a transfer via numerous transfer sites like holidaytaxis.com who offer it for EUR25 per person in a shuttle and its reliable.

No such thing in TLV

There are 2 security checks..
one is before check in - there is a sparate lane for Business class. They usually don't check the BP. So you can just go there and it dosn'e matter if you are *G or not.

For the second security check - after check in - There is no fast track...

In ZRH, A3*G is good for fast lane when flying *A.
In BCN, A3*G only gives you fast lane when flying A3.

Interesting, in ZRH back in November while on a *A flight I was told that I was not elligible for fast track security with my A3*G.
Unrelatedly, I think that my A3*G bag tag was responsible for getting me directed to the fast track security in YVR recently.
