Good afternoon... I need some guidance as to what to do with the predicament I am currently in.

I recently booked a Fairmont Gold Jr. Suite online at Fairmont.com, the room rate that was charged to my card and the room rate on my confirmation are two different quotes, in fact, the price listed on the website is the same listed on the confirmation, however, it somehow charged my CC 3x more than the rate listed. If I go back to the website, the rate has been changed to reflect the number charged on my CC.

Should I call Fairmont customer service, the resort manager, or cancel because I refuse to pay that rate at this point?

Thanks for your help

What kind of rate did you book? An advance purchase rate? It sounds as if your CC had already been charged for a stay in the future?

Iīd send an e-mail to the general hotelīs e-mail address pointing out the discrepancy between the CC charge and your confirmation e-mail, attach the confirmation e-mail and ask for clarification.

IME you should receive a response from the res. department pretty soon.

If that doesnīt work, you can still escalate the issue to the GM/Fairmont/FPC/your CC company etc.

I contacted the reservations manager at the property as well as Fairmont customer service, they stated that they must do a thorough investigation before providing me with any feedback. Is this the norm for handling this type of issue?
On a side note, I also check in Wednesday... should I prepare myself by booking a second hotel if per chance they cancel my reservation.

I can only give advice based on the info you provided, but if your info is accurate (no insult, itīs just my experience that with many complains thereīs more to the story) it seems like a pretty simple case:

1) you booked an advanced purchase rate on the Fairmont website (aka no third party site involved) and received a confirmation e-mail directly from Fairmont stating the rate
2) you got overcharged
3) you contacted the hotel to rectify the issue (and presumably enclosed the confirmation e-mail)

Iīve had a few billing issues and in all cases the issue was resolved immediately or I received a response like "weīll look into it/forward your e-mail and get back to you asap" (which never took more than 2-3days)
Never had to follow up... Did they use the words "thorough investigation"? I wouldnīt be too worried if the situation is as simple as I described above.

You could always book a room at another hotel just in case, but make sure the cancellation policy is 4p.m./6p.m. day of arrival and not 24h advance notice (which seems to be the more common policy)
