View Full Version : Cambria Suites, Anyone?

Since I pay my own expenses, I frequently stay at the Choice Hotel chain when on business, especially when they have "STAY TWO GET ONE NIGHT FREE". That's pretty darn good. Most are Comfort Inn hotels, or Quality Inn, Sleep Inn, or Comfort Suites.

I recently have been staying at the slightly upscale chain "Cambria Suites". I have to say, I've been pretty impressed. These are similar, IMO, to Novotel in Europe.
A cut above the fray, however, not true luxury. And, they QUALIFY for the "Stay two and get one night free" promotion :)
Unfortunately, they are only in 12 states at present, from Colorado to Florida, catch-can. They are spread pretty thin.

Anyone tried them?

Please follow the thread as it moves to FlyerTalk's dedicated forum for the Choice group of hotels, including Cambria properties. Ocn Vw 1K, Moderator, TravelBuzz.

We stayed at the Cambria Suites in my hometown of Roanoke, VA over the past Christmas holidays.

It was total chance... it was one of thoe Travelocity Top Secret hotels.

It was a great hotel; located downtown. Plenty of free parking (much covered parking which was great due to the snow).

The rooms were a great size and the interior was a bit "hip" and modern.

We actually had to check out a day early due to the storms and upcoming flight cancellations... and the manager offered to "hold" the one night of our non-refundable reservation for the next time we come to town. Cannot beat southern hospitality.

We have stayed at the Cambria Suites in Fort Lauderdale (a cruise group) and we all agreed it was very nice. They had a lot of good benefits and getting to and from was easy.

I was planning to go back there in October for post cruise stay but was able to get the Westin Diplomat on Priceline for $75 so I changed my mind.

wharvey definitely knows what he's talking about. Visiting my alma mater last winter I also stayed here 2 nights. My stay was almost immaculate. Terrific staff and services all around.

I have also stayed at the Cambria Suites Minneapolis, which did not disappoint as well.

Stayed a night at the Cambria in Traverse City, Michigan, which is a resort town with close to 50 hotels along the Grand Traverse Bay. It was the nicest hotel I've stayed at in TC, and I've stayed at a number of them.

Have stayed a several Cambrias. All have been new builds within the last five years or so. Rooms are mostly junior suites with a semi divided bed room, though there do appear to be a few proper suites at most properties. It does appear they are tinkering with F&B offerings though as I have seen slightly different offerings at different properties.

I have gotten a few upgrades to full suites, but since the majority of the room inventory is identical, that's not going to be frequent. At best expect a bottle of water if you are elite.

While I do think they compare favorably with HJI and Courtyard, the free breakfast at HGI for elites is a perk I wish they would emulate.

Cheers.
