A Lancaster, NY "Rodeway Inn" is the subject of August 1, 2011 Buffalo News article. Here's the link:
August 1, 2011 Buffalo News article: Dirty once, dirty twice, hotel deals with ratings damage (http://www.buffalonews.com/business/article508045.ece)
According to the Buffalo News article, this particular property showed up as No. 7 on TripAdvisor's 2010 list of the top 10 dirtiest hotels in the country and was in this July 26 Forbes article about the TripAdvisor list. (http://blogs.forbes.com/janelevere/2011/07/26/americas-dirtiest-hotels/) Forbes also has posted a slideshow of these hotels; I'll quote the caption that accompanies this slide (http://www.forbes.com/pictures/eikg45efi/7-rodeway-inn-williamsville-ny-2):
"It appears this hotel continues to represent itself as a Rodeway Inn after its termination from the Choice system. Accordingly, we will now take all proper legal action to protect our trademark," said David Peikin, a Choice Hotels spokesman.
The Choices Hotels spokesperson was quoted for a July 27 article; compare his quote to this quote of the August 1, 2011 Buffalo News article:
[Owner of the "Rodeway" Inn in Lancaster, Rashmikant] Patel owns the franchise for one of several area Rodeway Inns. The brand is owned by Choice Hotels International, which did not return a message Friday seeking comment.
It appears to me that Mr. Patel has a bigger problem than the online ratings for the property!
