I'm guseing they are converting straight to airpoints from you AP number

One would need a 16 digit Flybuys number. Don't think they can bypass that and convert to AP directly. There used to be a place where you could put your Flybuys in when the partnership started. I am guessing this is another communication failure between NZ and Flybuys.

It will probably use the Fly Buys number attached to each Air Points number as printed on the reverse of the Air Points card.

I recall earning FlyBuys when booking travel via TravelCentres.

Yes, me, too. But they had to swipe my FlyBuys card into their system.

If that's true that you'd get 250 bonus points on flights to the pacific islands and also to Norfolk Island (they don't include the latter in Australia). A better deal than to Australia.

what is the Flybuys - APD conversion rate? 250 Fly Buys points sounds like a lot but from memory isn't the conversion rate pretty poor?

if you use a FlyBuys card and have a GlobalPlus card the transfer rate is 5.95FB = AP$1 (mimimum to transfer 300 FB points, then in 150 increments)

direct earn FB from your airpoints card it is 6.25FB = Ap$1 no minimum (this is a different FB number than normal FB and it incoporates your AirNZ FF#)

i dont know if both options are eligible for this promotion

The answer is yes. The Flybuys number on the back of the Airpoints card works the same way as a standalone Flybuys number.

There is one small difference which may not interest you guys.

If you use the self check-outs at New World supermarket, the scanner cannot read the Airpoints card, only the standalone Flybuys card. I found that out to my extreme annoyance.

I have both cards at the moment, and tend to use my standalone FB but looking to ditch GlobalPlus, so I guess no more self scanning at New World (actually the one I go it is quicker to go through a regualr checkout)

Just made a GAS booking for AKL-SYD-AKL for two people, do I get 100 or 50 FB points?

after consulting with the terms and conditions (which can be a useful thing to do), I would say 100

"Bonus Points will be allocated to the Fly Buys card number provided at the time of booking and Bonus Points will be awarded in relation to each passenger (excluding infants) on a booking."

mileage varies. I have made four bookings this week; three GAS, one flexi. Not all gave me the option of entering Flybuys. Will be trying to get Loyalty NZ to honour the bookings as eligible for FB, but hope might be forlorn.

made a booking online via airnz.co.nz for a friend AKL-HKG-TPE-HKG-AKL with both long hauls on nz and short hauls with CX.

after entering the personal details and credit card payment, it tells me to ring 0800 to confirm the booking as there were partner airlines involved. hence i had no chance of enter my flybuyg number.

wrote email to GE and phone them, the answer was SHOCKING. you will not earn bonus flybuy bonus points because there are partner airlines involved in his booking.

i mean i spent extra $400 to book with air nz and wanted to earn 250 bound points. wish i just had booked with SQ.

I am trying to get my agent to see if they can get me FB if I book through them.

250 FB is quite a lot of APD, given that I have earned (was it 16 APD with 123 FB)

Let's see if is worth it and it is still, always cheaper, I cannot say much cheaper, but cheaper via an agent.
