France - Small Gift fr US to French

Bonjour,

Someone of the host family will pick up us upon our arrival. I need help with a gift (small and easy to carry/travel) of which item from US that a French female may like ... we don't know her age but I would guess she may be middle age or younger.

It's hard to go wrong with a coffee table / picture book of American iconic park scenes - as French are often fond of the ideas of the Old West, something with Grand Canyon - Four Corners etc. can be nice. Something locally made - a craft specialty - may be good as well.

Unfortunately, the French are ahead (or at least feel they are) of the world in terms of gastronomy, wine, clothing and fashion, so that restricts things a bit.
