I just became Diamond this past weekend, but wasn't too excited because of all the posts i've read about diluted benefits, and it doesn't mean anything anymore. Well, as far as i am concerned, it is great to be a Diamond.

As i mentioned in a previous string i was trying to book Reward rooms throughout Europe for next month and was having little or no success because i am planning my trip so late and the reward rooms for most Europe summer nights were gone long ago. When i posted Diamond yesterday, i decided to call the Diamond desk to see if there was anything they can do.

Since i didn't call until late afternoon, they couldn't really do anything because of the time difference in Europe. When i got into work this morning, i barely had my computer on when a rep from the Diamond Desk, Sayed, called me, and boy was it good news.

He got me all the reward stays that i had wanted and more:
-Two nights in the Hilton Downtown Amsterdam on the 3rd and 4th of July
-Two nights in the New Hilton in Luxembourg on July 7th and 8th
-Three nights in Barcelona the 9th through the 12th

I need to get to work on transferring some points into my Hilton Honors account, and maybe call back and try to get a room at the Hilton Noga Cannes.

Maybe Diamond members are negative about the program in this forum in order to dissuade others from trying to achieve D status and therefore diluting the benefits...well now the secret is out! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

I'm glad you got one and that being Diamond was the key.

Just yesterday I tried to get an additional award night at the Tokyo Hilton and was told it was not available. The agent said it was available for Diamond members and asked if I was Diamond.
I said, "I'm Gold."
She said, "too bad." http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Can I get some clarification.

If you are a Hilton Diamond and wish to use an award at a Hilton property, will this property always be avaliable to Hilton Diamonds? Are there no capacity or black out dates for Diamonds using award points?

I have to disagree. I am a Diamond member and could not get the Paris Hilton for 2 nights early July. So even for Diamond members there are blackout dates http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

sa_boy -- FWIW, keep in mind that lack of availability does not necessarily mean existence of blackout dates or capacity controls.

Also, have you asked Yvonne at the Diamond Award Desk to help you?

Unlike the United States Hilton hotels, European Hotels treat Diamond members very well. You should find a bowl of fruit or box of chocolates in your hotel room when you check in.
