I am burning a free FL ticket to go to a festival in San Francisco at the end of September. I booked a Fri-Mon ticket but I've been there a couple of times already this year already so I thought I'd see what I could find in the way of a MR on a red-eye Friday night and a return on Saturday afternoon.

So far all I've come up with is this r/t trip to MKE through ATL with 5616 EQM. I've qualified for a 75% bonus on top of my 25% bonus so the cost for total comes to under 2.0cpm. Was hoping to do better but not sure I can with such specific dates.

I see this routing on AirTran for $229 (4.0cpm) and Delta for $285 (5.1cpm).

So I ended up booking SFO-ATL-MKE-ATL-SFO from 1130PM 9/23 and arriving back at SFO at 630PM 9/24. I paid $224.50ai and it yields 5616 miles = 4.0cpm. The good news is that I save a night at the Days Inn on Grove Street at a rate of $125/night so when I figure that into the equation I come up with 1.77cpm. Plus, I get double miles promo on all flights from now until the end of the year. woohoo!

The only problem is that I arrive on FL at 11:15am on 9/23. I could change my ticket to the afternoon flight but the $75 fee kills my average. I wonder if the Delta SkyClub would allow me to store my bag there for the day while I take BART into the city. Has anyone ever done this?

SFO has a baggage storage service in the Intl. terminal. Check the website for details. I wouldn't imagine it being more than 10-15$ to store your bag for the day.
