Is it normal to have to call a previous stay to get your points credited to your HH account? Out of my last 6 stays only 3 have posted without having to call back the hotels. One still hasn't (Doubletree Suites Houston). These stays have been booked through HH 800# and listed my account number.
Because of the current 50,000 point promotion I switched from Marriott (thanks to this post). I never had this kind of problem with them.
If this is the norm, maybe it's time to switch back.

None of my last 3 stays (Hilton LAX, Doubletree Palm Veach Gardens, San Francisco Hilton/Towers) in the past 60 days or so have posted to my account. In each case, my HH number was given when the reservation was made and was printed on the receipt.

I'm with you. If I have to chase down credit for stays each time, I'll vote with my feet.

Same camp. Stayed at London Hilton Park Lane April 4th; HHonors number was printed on the receipt. Two faxes and two on-line requests later, nary a response. It's rather frustrating when a company doesn't respond to the channels of communication it has set up.

Same here. My stay at the Hilton Duesseldorf in April just posted this week. ugh. I love the superfast posting from Starwood and wish Hilton would do the same.

I guess I'm lucky - my Hiltons always post. SD Gaslamp - check out 6/16, posted on 6/18 with all the bonus points/miles. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Doubletree is another story though.

Until this month, I've almost always had to use the online request form on the HHonors website to get credit for my stays. In some cases it's taken up to two months for the credit to show up, but it's always eventually been credited (with the exception of a Priceline-booked stay).

Last week I spent the night of 6/10/01 at the Doubletree in Bakersfield, CA. I checked out on 6/11/01 and within 48 hours the points, bonuses, and miles had all posted. I'm currently at the Hilton Garden Inn-San Francisco Airport, and check out three days from now. Hopefully that credit will be posted as quickly as the one last week, although given past experiences, I'm not overly optimistic.

I talked to a Hilton hotel the other week about the slow (at that point non)posting of my points from they told me that Hilton is in the process of getting all properties on the new electronic system for points (why my Hampton stays post in just a day or two), but they are not all on it yet. Those that aren't on it have to do it all on paper -- within the hotel, and between the hotel and HH. He said it will usually take up to two weeks for it to post if the property is on the old system (and it took almost 3 weeks for it to post).

I know that is not reassuring, but I waited to see if it would post on it's own and it eventually did -- correctly.

As a follow up to my early post in this thread, KUDOs to Adam Burke and his team, as they were able to resolve my posting difficulty efficiently and professionally.

I have made a number of calls and have heard many promises, but so far no post. It really shouldn't have to take this much work.

I just called HHonors because 3 of my last stays haven't posted. Mind you the credit card charges have, including one that hit my card 6 times. Their excuse over the phone was that some properties do their point submissions in bulk( a week or two worth at a time) and others are automatic. Seems like HHonors need a new system.

I have to tell everyone that not only does all of my stays post on time, but I sometimes get more points than even I know about. However, I will agree that if anyone contacts Hilton Honors customer service they are pretty horrible. Their web site is now incredibly complicated and I have yet to get FaxBack to work correctly.

As I continue on with my quest to get my points credited...
I talked with accounting at the hotel, very agreeable. They said that they would call Hilton and did not understand why I wasn't credited since it was "in the system". He calls me back and says that he was on hold 8 minutes waiting for a live member services rep to answer. So it was back in my court.
I called and too held for some 5 minutes. The person that answered said that I should call hotel. I told them the story of the hotel's accountant. The rep's response :"Well,I certainly don't have time to call them".Thus, I'm back to scratching my head and better understand Clark Howard's description of "customer no-service".
