Sixt - Sixt - Total prices now exclude VAT?

I got the promo newsletter today and checked to see if the prices for a long rental for early last year I made a month ago had changed. Getting the quote, I was initially quite excited as the price has gone done by some 7%. That is, until I noticed at the bottom of the confirmation page * Prices exclusive 19.60% VAT. I go by total price and in the past this was the total price. Went to check the earlier reservation and sure enough, the Total Price I got in the quote from a few weeks earlier did include VAT. Is this new?

The answer is .... it depends

on sixt.de and sixt.com I got the prices including Vat (normal or with platinum log in). But if you book a special rate or corporate log in it can be that they now show excluding Vat.

I received a Sixt Flash with CD for 25% off worldwide, and when I book it on sixt.com I indeed get a slightly lower quote than if I do a reservation at sixt.de. However, the supposedly reduced rate excludes 19% VAT whereas sixt.de includes 19% MwSt. So the supposed reduced rate would come out substantially higher if 19% tax were to be added. This is extremely confusing.

I ended up doing both reservations, but also have Hertz reservations for a rate in the same range and higher class of car, so at least have a few options and can consider chances of upgrade (Sixt Plat vs.Hertz Gold).

Hmmm a normal booking at sixt.com always showed with VAT for me.

I know it is annoying to sometime exclude the VAT ....

The difference between .de and .com can be big (.com always has unlimied mileage)

For me it was something like this
CPMR (BMW 1 series) .com 50% cheaper
FDMR (BMW 3 series) almost the same
LDAR (BMW 5 series) .de 50% cheaper

If I log on to sixt.com I get the same prices as the German site and also with limited mileage. Both sites include tax. and whether or not I log in with my account prices stay the same untill I look at a 5 series the .com jumps up in price.
Last year when I logged in prices were exc. tax on my account(platinum) but were still cheaper than normal rates once tax was added.

Hi all,

David from Sixt here. Our offers to retail customers should include VAT, however customers booking with a corporate account will see rates excluding VAT.

@YVR Cockroach please could you PM me the link you clicked on the newsletter that gave you the NET rate, and I'll take a look at this for you.

Thanks,
David
