Mileage Run Discussion - Longest Mileage from IAD

Trying to plan MR for August 2011 from TYS via IAD. Is IAD-SFO the longest, 2419 miles? Trying to do it where I can turn around same day. Thanks for all your help.

hnl is farther, but you would have a red eye return....

ANC, like HNL, is a good bit further than SFO. But also requires a red-eye return.

It's hard to find decent fares in August. But you might want to try LAX or SNA, then taking the redeye back via SFO or LAX.

I did this run at the end of last year and went IAD DEN OAK. You get a few more miles but, importantly, you stand a better chance of getting upgraded. I did a one day turn and was upgraded on three of the four segments.

Out of smaller airports like TYS it can be really hard to find deals- so try to look for a good mileage run from a larger city and stack them end-on-end rather than simply transiting through IAD.

Thanks, guys for your suggestions! I actually found TYS-SFO via IAD for $290ai. Thought it was a pretty good price. Quite new in this. I'll get 5676 miles.
