Virgin Australia Velocity - New Brisbane Lounge opens today

Very similar in style to the new MEL lounge but a huge improvement over the old version. Apparently premium kerbside drop off entry (a la the SYD lounge) is on the cards for later in the year.

I used the SYD version for the first time last night and i have to say it's fantastic. Most impressive indeed.

Now they just need to open a new one in the International Terminal. To replace that thing NZ likes to call a Bussiness Class Lounge.

By the looks of it the Bar is still not self service? anyone know why?

In Virgin Australia lounges wines are self service but beers are not. I'm not sure why that it is exactly - although it means in practice that the area is "supervised" at all times.

went and had a look at the new lounge today as I was at BNE to pick up my wife.

Yes, they have done a nice job, very similar to MEL.

I think the lounge is going to date and dirty very quickly. Some of the fabric in the MEL lounge was quite stained already I noticed while I was there last week.

I had not been into the BNE space for ten years (last when it was still a Golden Wing) and don't recall it being quite so small, but obviously the footprint is the same as the bar/service areas and bathrooms are where they have always been.

Still, well done.

No - it's in the wrong terminal. Although if connecting through BNE DJ Golds get anytime/ arrivals access.

OOL only has one terminal. I would imagine they will put the new lounge where both DOM and INT passengers will be able to use it...

Sorry, brain fade - was referring to using the lounge in BNE. Yes, I would assume that the OOL lounge will be in the domestic area but available to International travellers.
