Sent to me by a friend:
Must be a single person booking.
Well I discovered it by accident. I was trying to search for hotels on Nov. 4-6, but somehow got on the wrong calendar and hit Feb 4-6. I was searching for one person because I wanted to see what the all-inclusive rates would be for only one guest. And there was the rate of $29. Listed as from Agoda.com, along with a number of $299 rates at other sites. Neither Kayak nor Agoda passed me thru to Marriott, so I have no idea what the Marriott site said. It was not available for any other days before or after, nor for 2 persons. But there it was on Agoda. So I booked it, at lunchtime today. 2 nights, total $66, incl. tax. They immediately took the money out of my checking account (linked to a master card as a credit card), and sent me a confirmation and a VOUCHER (signed and stamped) for the booking, stating that it included all taxes and fees.
Agoda is owned by Priceline, so I expect them to honor the deal. They know all about prepaid bookings. Especially since at 5 PM tonight I called a friend and he booked the same deal. And it's still available now at 11 PM. I took screen shots as I went along during my booking, so there can be no doubt. The low rate is plausable since there are other hotels often in cancun for low prices, such as the Hyatt and Melia hotels for $89, and I've seen the Westin Regina for even less. So 1/3 of that price is not so outlandish, albeit a true bargain for this 5-star hotel.
