Apologies if this question has been asked and answered but I wasn't able to find any existing discussion using search.

You can currently transfer BW points to CO OnePass miles. Haven't been able to make BW to UA Mileage Plus transfer since sometime in 2004 I believe.

Since I believe Mileage Plus is intended to be the surviving program after the UA / CO merger is completed, does that mean no more BW transfers to the merged airline ?

Thanks very much in advance for your wisdom.

Hard to say. Keep in mind that even Chase, the very bank that provides both UA and CO cards, has this same issue with their Chase Sapphire Plus credit card. For some unknown reason, you can transfer the points you earn with that card to CO but not to UA! So what happens after 2011?

Some people (in threads about the above issue) say "of course" Sapphire Plus will be able to transfer to UA once CO is gone, but without knowing why you can't transfer to UA already, I don't understand why those people are so absolutely sure.

So, similarly, without knowing why you currently can't transfer to UA, only to CO, from BW, I can't say what their plans are.

I guess you could try contacting BW CS (or CO CS), but it being July it might still be far too soon for them to have an official policy ready. (A Customer Service person could only tell you what's going to happen if the BW management has made them aware of it, obviously.)
